With his swooning good looks and unmistakable charm, it’s quite impossible not to fall head over heels on “Ultimate Heartthrob” Piolo Pascual. But more than his handsome physical features, he’s definitely admired for his versatility as actor, which we’re able to witness in various movie and television projects he starred in in the past 30 years that he’s been in the local entertainment scene.

And beginning this June, he’s poised to astonish us with his teleserye comeback in the upcoming local adaptation of the popular South Korean drama Flower Of Evil. But before we get to meet his newest character, Jacob, let’s look back on some of his most notable portrayals in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!

He’s been gracing our television screens with his handsomeness since 1993, but it was seemingly only in 1999 when he started to become a household name after he was chosen to be the leading man of Judy Ann Santos in the classic soap opera Esperanza. They went on to become perennial on-screen partners and made us kilig with their team-up in Sa Puso Ko Iingatan Ka (2001-2003) and Sa Piling Mo (2006).

After starring in a slew of hit projects together, their tandem went on separate ways and Piolo was paired with different Kapamilya leading ladies. In 2007, he and Claudine Barretto top-billed Walang Kapalit, which was followed by his remarkable partnership with Angel Locsin in the iconic fantaseryes Lobo in 2008.

In 2009, he became the leading man of Kristine Hermosa in Komiks Presents: Nasaan Ka Maruja and of KC Concepcion in the local adaptation of the South Korean drama Lovers In Paris.

The following year, he had a special participation in the well-loved inspirational series May Bukas Pa as a choir member, and got reunited with its lead actor Zaijian Jaranilla in the fantasy-adventure drama Noah, wherein Piolo played the role of the then-child star’s father Gabriel Perez.

He continued to impress us with his acting chops and versatility as an actor through his remarkable portrayals in Dahil Sa Pag-ibig (2012), Apoy Sa Dagat (2013), and Hawak Kamay , (2014), Since I Found You (2018), in which he also got paired with various Kapamilya actresses.

Aside from these teleseryes, the talented Ultimate Heartthrob was also able to display his dramatic flair through his notable performances in a few episodes of the long-running drama anthology Maalaala Mo Kaya. In 2006, he astounded us with his depiction of a deranged man in the “Piso” episode. He then brought to life late highly-revered statesman Ninoy Aquino in the two-part special of MMK titled “Kalapati” and “Makinilya”. And in 2017, he surely tugged a lot of heartstrings with his compelling portrayal of Ryan, an inspiring father whose touching moment with his kids at a fastfood chain captured by a netizen went viral online, in the “Upuan” episode.

He may be admired for his dramatic talent, but the 45-year-old actor-singer was able to prove that he could also definitely do comedy through his stints in the sitcoms Home Sweetie Home (2014) and My Papa Pi (2022).
