Noah, a fantasy drama aired from July 12, 2010 to February 4, 2011treated audiences to a delightful viewing experience with a well-crafted story, top-caliber cast, and spectacular artistry. It focused on a loving father’s journey to search for his missing son and his travails in regaining his affection and trust after becoming feral.
It chronicled the journey of Gabriel Perez (Piolo Pascual), a cop and patriarch who lost his family after an accident linked to his job as a uniformed officer. Upon waking up after being comatose for five years, he learned that his wife Ruth (Jodi sta. Maria) married her former suitor. This made him decide to just look for his son Jacob (Zaijan Jaranilla), who he strongly believed was still alive.
He rejoined the police force, which made his quest easier and took on a mission to a paradise-like yet uncivilized island called Noah. There, he encountered the Ungtas, a tribe of ape-like creatures who took care of his estranged son, who is now called Eli and considered himself as one of them. Gabriel had a hard time convincing Eli that he’s really his son, so he joined him in his pursuit of finding creatures like him. This made their attachment grow tighter and in their adventures, Gabriel met the kind and dazzling nymph Diwatang Eva (Kristine Hermosa). However, unknown to Gabriel, Eli’s mission was also his and whatever the outcome, it would have a great impact not only for the island, but for the outside world as well. In the end, everything was placed in a proper perspective, with life in Noah going back to normal and Gabriel’s family with Ruth and Jacob happily reunited.
Aside from the actors aforementioned, the stellar cast of the fantaseries also included Jolo Revilla, Xyriel Manabat, Melissa Ricks, Cherry Pie Picache, Tessie Tomas, Joem Bascon, Baron Geisler, Ana Capri, Lou Veloso, and Noni Buencamino, among others.
Piolo revealed that his character here was the closest to him personally. “I guess, it is closest to my character in terms of working it out with family, working to find the person that you love."
It was also his reunion project with his long-time friend Kristine whom he got to work with in the 1999 drama series Sa Sandaling Kailangan Mo Ako, and Jodi who also acted as his wife in the 2007 primetime series Walang Kapalit.
Director Lino Cayetano disclosed that the characters were “perfectly woven” for both Piolo and Zaijan, as they smoothly transitioned into their roles. Noah came after Zaijan’s breakthrough performance as the “miracle boy” Santino in May Bukas Pa.
With a storyline that was so unique and highly relatable, Noah became one of the Kapamilya network’s most memorable and biggest productions.
