One of the most anticipated Kapamilya teleseryes this 2023 is “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” starring a lofty cast ensemble led by Coco Martin and Lovi Poe.

Get a few exciting details about the series straight from the cast members!

Christopher de Leon, dubbed as the country’s Drama King, is thrilled to be working with the likes of Charo Santos, John Estrada, and Lito Lapid in the series. He added, “This will be a very interesting story dahil ‘yung inspiration ni Direk Coco, manggagaling kay FPJ.” The teleserye is an adaptation of the original 1986 film starring the late Fernando Poe Jr.

John Estrada, who recently played ‘kontrabida’ to Coco in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” calls this new project another milestone for the Primetime King, “Kasi alam natin kung gaano siya kagaling, how great he is as an actor, director, and now producer.” Admittedly, he feels a mix of excitement and jitters working with old friends and new co-stars in the series.

Viewers can expect the familiar mystique of Coco and Lito Lapid’s tandem, which is “masang-masa” as the latter puts it. As in their previous collaboration in “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” Lito vows to work closely with Coco and make suggestions when needed.

To be handpicked by Coco and act with a stellar cast is a privilege for Pen Medina, who is also looking forward to finally sharing the screen with Lovi. “Malalaking artista, magagaling, mga premyado, siyempre it’s an honor,” he said during the story conference.

Cherry Pie Picache has co-starred with Coco in numerous Kapamilya teleseryes including Tayong Dalawa and Ikaw Lamang. Therefore, she’s gushing over their TV reunion, and at the same time, looking forward to working with new co-stars like Lovi and Mercedes Cabral. The acclaimed actress assured viewers of a material that’s meaty and worth their time.

“Excited ako sa ‘Batang Quiapo.’ Ang hitik-hitik ng storya. This is not only a story of the character but it is a story of the Filipino people… I’m sure isa na naman itong obra na susundan ninyo, susubaybayan, at susuportahan, mamahalin gabi-gabi,” she pressed.

Adding more to the show’s oversized star power is Charo Santos, who calls Coco an “answered prayer" and says that everyone is looking forward to making “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” a success both locally and internationally.

Also in the cast are Susan Africa, Tommy Abuel, Allan Paule, Mark Lapid, Ping Medina, Ronwaldo Martin and Benzon Dalina.

The 2023 teleserye will be produced by Dreamscape Entertainment and Coco’s CCM Film Productions, at the helm of Coco himself and Malu Sevilla.

The action-comedy film “Batang Quiapo” is about Manila’s pickpocket kingpin Baldo (FPJ), who is determined to start a decent life after his time in prison. He meets a young female thief named Maria (Maricel Soriano) asking him to take her as an apprentice, but instead, he tries to put her on the right path.
