Many of today’s most bankable actors were launched via iconic Kapamilya youth-oriented programs such as Tabing Ilog and Gimik. In that vein, the stars of ABS-CBN’s newest coming-of-age series Tara, G! also hope to reach the phenomenal success of these OG ‘barkadas.’

JC Alcantara, portraying Dan in Tara, G! , wishes to follow in the footsteps of the likes of John Lloyd Cruz who started his career in ABS-CBN’s teen romance-drama shows. Albeit shy to talk about it, JC admitted he dreams to achieve his idol's level of success. “Parang nakakahiya naman po sabihin na gano’n, pero sana. Pangarap ko rin talaga makamit kung ano ‘yung nakamit nina John Lloyd, nina Marvin Agustin. Sobrang idol ko si John Lloyd lalo na sa pag-arte,” said JC in this episode of Kapamilya Chat, which is why he loves taking constructive criticisms to improve himself.

He and his castmates are aware that big dreams require hard work, which is why they did their best in Tara, G! , JC is proud of their series. He commends its cinematography, the cast’s performances, and the story itself that will resonate with viewers and relay lessons about family and friendship.

Tara, G! also delves deep into the vibrant farm life in the fictional community of La Guerta, set in Atok, Benguet, which is part of JC’s travel bucket list. A ton of unforgettable moments happened in their taping in Baguio, one of which involves ghosts. As shared by Kaori Oinuma, Zach Castaneda, and CJ Salonga in a previous episode of Kapamilya Chat, they had a supernatural experience with spirits that "hated" their co-star Anthony Jennings. It suddenly felt heavy and too foggy at the time. Anthony sensed that somebody touched him, and when he took off his shirt, they found a thick scratch on his skin.

The shoot was delayed by the sudden intense fog and creepy vibe surrounding them. Anthony was starting to feel feverish as well. Director Cathy Camarillo sought the locals’ help for a ritual. They were then told that spirits were offended, so they offered animals and liquor. After the ritual, things quickly went back to normal. JC takes it as a learning experience. He said travellers must familiarize themselves with the place’s culture and beliefs.

JC also discovered a lot about Kaori, who plays his love interest in the series. But he’d rather keep those fun moments to their ‘barkada.’
