In her over three decades in the local entertainment scene, Ruffa Gutierrez has been popularly known as a talented actress, a beauty queen, and a seasoned talk show host. However, her stint in It’s Showtime as one of the “choose-gados” or judges for the “Reina ng Tahanan” segment has enabled us to further see her other facets, such as being a loving daughter and sister to her beloved family.

As one of the most influential and prominent families in the showbiz industry, the Gutierrezes have been an open book for us since, aside from her, four of their members are also big names in show business – their patriarch veteran actor Eddie Gutierrez, their mom and talent manager Annabelle Rama, and her younger brothers Richard and Raymond Gutierrez. Their other brothers Rocky, Elvis, and Ritchie Paul, on the other hand, have remained away from the limelight.

Due to their popularity, they had their own reality series entitled It Takes Gutz To Be A Gutierrez, which ran for years and gave us a glimpse of their lives on-an-off-cam.

However, before getting to where they are now, their family also went through a lot of ordeals in the past, just like when they had to leave their comfortable life here in the Philippines in exchange of a simpler, quieter, and normal life in the United States. And they’re able to share about it in their media appearances through the years.

In an episode of the Online Kapamilya Show’s (OKS) Love Thy Chika wherein he served as host Ruffa’s interviewer, Raymond recalled how their ate used to be their “glamorous yaya” when they migrated to the US a long, long time ago.

She reminded him that it was her who changed his and twin brother Richard’s diapers when they were still babies, which was her way of helping their mom in taking good care of all of them. It was also her who urged their parents to send them abroad in order for them to have their own life and life outside showbiz since fame is fleeting.

Even though babysitting her baby brothers were tough, she still enjoyed every bit of it, saying, “I enjoy and I’m very proud of how you and Chard have become, including Elvis. Lahat kayong magkakapatid.”

They also appeared together in an episode of Magandang Buhay in 2018, wherein Raymond described how a supportive and fun-to-be-with sister the 47-year-old actress-host is.

“I think what’s nice about my sister is no matter what the project is – sometimes I would do an endorsement na maski hindi siya bayad, she’ll post the product because proud siya sa akin or she’ll attend the event because it’s my event. So, gano’n siya ka-supportive na even if she’s a celebrity, wala sa kanya ‘yong free ‘yong posting. Basta proud lang siya,” he told the momshie-hosts.

On that same year, Richard also guested in Magandang Buhay wherein he had the chance to tell his Ate Ruffa how much she means to him and their whole family after she delivered her message for him via phone patch.

“Sobrang nagiging makulay ang buhay naming dahil sa ate ko. She’s the energy of the family and she brings so much color and life to the family. So, I can’t think about not having her,” the FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano actor said.
