From the very first episode, Tim (Zaijian Jaranilla) and Poch (Miggy Jimenez)'s BL (Boys’ Love) story in “High Street” felt like a journey we were all invited to take—a ride full of twists, turns, and pit stops that made us feel every bit of their joy and every sting of their pain.
As viewers, we weren't just watching their tale unfold; we were living it alongside them, cheering them on in their victories and holding our breath in their moments of doubt. Now, as their winning love story approaches another chapter's close with the series finale on the horizon, we can't help but feel a bit sentimental.
It must be the rain outside soaking our TimPoch hearts are in full nostalgia mode, ready to look back on the journey they’ve navigated through the ups and downs of ‘adulting’.
When Tim came home in his stinky police uniform after a long day, he tried to tease Poch by asking for a hug and a kiss. Poch, grossed out and laughing, playfully pushed him toward the shower. But Tim, never one to miss a beat, cheekily asked if Poch wanted to join him. In the middle of showering, Tim would open the door to ask for ‘help’ from his boo, but Poch stood firm, insisting he wouldn’t go near him until he was clean and smelling good.
That night, Poch surprised Tim with a romantic dinner date in their apartment, complete with red rose petals scattered everywhere. These playful moments in their cozy love nest perfectly captured the joy of love wrapped in freedom. If their relationship had a map, these were the roads where everything just clicked into place.
But they got caught up in Tori’s (Dimples Romana) schemes, as she found a way to ruin their reputations, which ultimately shattered their trust in each other. They were facing many challenges at the time, but the final blow came when Poch, desperate to find a career in entertainment, crossed paths with a perverted director and a group of people who led him down a troubled path—all orchestrated by Tori.
The breaking point came in an episode where Poch asked Tim to join him at a client’s party that he was obligated to attend. Unfortunately, Tim’s superior assigned him a task for the same night. What Poch didn’t know was that the people at the party were involved in drug trafficking. He ended up being drugged, and in a cruel twist of fate, Tim, who was part of the police team raiding the bar, found Poch caught in the middle of the chaos. Tim chose to save his ‘boo’ and helped him escape, but this incident left a deep scar on their relationship.
In one scene at the apartment, Tim pressured Poch to admit whether he was using drugs. Under the weight of Tim's interrogation, Poch crumbled, his insecurities magnified by the confrontation. He felt as if his boyfriend truly looked down on him, leading him to believe that this was why Tim never bragged about him at work and why even Tim’s mother, Edith (Angeli Bayani), couldn’t accept him.
A colleague had apparently caught Tim helping Poch escape from the raid, which ended up affecting Tim's job. Since his career was so important to him, this incident further strained their relationship, ultimately leading Tim to ask for some space. During a phone call, Tim asked for time to clear his head. We felt the sting deep to our core when he said he needed time to think things through after what had happened during the raid.
As the saying goes, "If you love someone, let them go." All Poch wanted to know was if Tim still loved him. But despite not getting answers, Poch granted Tim the space he needed, believing it was best for him. Until the very end, he insisted he had never lied and that he was not at fault. Our hearts were shattered to pieces as Poch struggled to explain the truth—that he really wasn’t doing drugs—while Tim felt torn between believing him or dismissing it as another lie. To make matters worse, outside pressures began to weigh heavily on them, particularly the disapproval from Edith, who was strongly against Tim’s gay relationship.
The vibrant colors of TimPoch's love slowly faded into muted shades of gray. Watching their breakup scene, initiated by Poch, left our hearts hollow. Poch decided it would be better for them to part ways early, believing it would prevent the situation from worsening and causing them even more pain.
After five years of being sweet and romantic, living in a world that was solely their own, Tim and Poch found themselves back to being almost strangers. In that scene where they shared a brief, post-breakup conversation at the opening of Poch, Archie (Elijah Canlas), and Kenjie’s (Tommy Alejandrino) café-bar, our hearts raced. Tim congratulated Poch, asked how he was doing, and subtly probed his heart with a playful question about whether Poch had missed checking in on him. Poch remained distant, asking the bartender to attend to Tim, whom he introduced simply as a friend. Tim forced a smile that didn’t quite reach his eyes, and in that moment, we could see all the unsaid feelings and emotions swelling within him, yearning to break free.
This was followed by a scene where Tim couldn’t sleep, unable to stop thinking about his ex. He gazed at their photo together displayed on his bedside table and reached for his cell phone to call Poch, only to be jolted by the reminder that their connection had been severed.
Then a flicker of hope ignited in our chests when Tim took the first step to mend their relationship. Despite how fragile this hope felt, we clung to the possibility that TimPoch might find their way back to each other. Tim admitted that he hadn’t been okay or happy since their breakup. However, Poch remained firm, insisting that their separation was ultimately for the best.
While Poch was focused on building a life for himself, pressured by Edith’s judgment, Tim was desperately searching for answers. When he saw Poch talking to another man at the bar, he assumed the guy was Poch’s new lover. Consumed by frustration, pain, and jealousy, Tim confronted Poch, demanding to know if he had replaced him. He insisted it would be better if Poch admitted to loving someone else rather than leaving him looking foolish. However, Poch remained unshakeable, explaining that he needed to fix his life first, as he had no achievements to boast about to prove he deserved Tim.
Brace your hearts, because the much-anticipated ‘comeback’ finally happens in the next and final scene of this video montage. The air was thick with palpable tension, yet it was also filled with lingering feelings of love. Tim, expressing his frustration and admitting he couldn’t bear being away from his ‘boo,’ shared that he understands Poch still has big goals, as does he. However, he hoped they could achieve these dreams together, as he can’t envision his future without Poch. In Poch’s eyes, we saw unspoken hopes and fears. He finally let down the walls he had built and admitted that he, too, couldn’t imagine a life without Tim.
As they spoke, we saw the sincerity in their eyes—a deep well of emotions that had been hidden for so long, along with traces of the memories they’ve built since high school.
TimPoch is the endgame! Keep winning, lovebirds! While we celebrate the on-screen couple we've adored since “Senior High,” we also feel the sting of sepanx now that they, along with the rest of the Northford High barkada, are 'graduating' from our screens.
“High Street,” airs its finale episode on Friday, August 30, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
