Perhaps shaped by her upbringing and a series of painful events, Bettina (Kaila Estrada)’s heart has become full of spite, leading her down a path consumed by bitterness.

And her bitterness lies not only in her turbulent rivalry with her half-sister Caroline (Belle Mariano) but in her general attitude towards everyone. Anger corrodes her soul, so much so that it poisons her relationship with other people, as shown in this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from Can’t Buy Me Love.”

We begin with the moments where Bettina’s anger erupted towards Caroline, her most hated half-sibling. In the first scene, she caught her fiancé Edward (Enzo Pineda) chasing Caroline. The stoic Caroline would’ve just kept silent had not Bettina humiliated her by accusing her of flirting with Edward. Triggered, Caroline calmly revealed to Bettina, and all the nosy guests watching the scene, that she just caught Edward and Bettina’s best friend Liv (Rhen Escano) kissing. Unfortunately, Bettina didn’t want to believe and instead poured her anger on Caroline.

Following that incident, Bettina insisted that Caroline issue a public apology to Edward and his family. But, upon Caroline’s refusal, she felt the only way to quench her burning hatred was to slap her – twice.

Tensions escalated following Caroline's abduction, during which she harbored suspicions towards Edward. Naturally, Bettina's response was filled with violent outbursts, telling Caroline to vanish for good rather than fabricate such stories.

Hate had made her so disconnected from other people, especially when her beloved Edward got killed. Her perception of right and wrong became obscured by her intense emotions. She picked the harshest words to tell her brother, Charleston (Albie Casino), upon learning that he asked Liv to seduce Edward and steal him from her. In defense, Charleston claimed that it was her only way to save her from Edward’s true nature, which he had discovered was not as innocent as it seems. However, Bettina erupted in fury to the point of insinuating Charleston’s capability for even greater crimes and that he could be Edward’s murderer.

Consumed by bitterness, she’s become so prone to looking at the negative, evident in her quick temper whenever the topic of GLC’s next-in-line CEO arises. She’s unwilling to entertain the possibility that anyone else could be deserving of the position.

And sometimes she gets so wrapped up in being angry she loses herself. While her initial rage upon realizing that Sherwin (Rafael Rossell) had merely used her as a pawn in Annie (Ina Raymundo)'s scheme to seize control of GLC was understandable, she overlooked the broader context. She failed to consider that the chaos surrounding her family may be affected by the controversies and dark secrets they are involved in.

Her heart has become so laden with sourness that she labelled Caroline stupid for her leniency towards Bingo just because of her love for him. It's as if she conveniently forgot her past when she was once similarly blinded by her affection for Edward.

When Irene offered Caroline red wine as a gesture of comfort, Bettina reacted angrily and accused Irene of taking Caroline's side, as if they’re still children bound by mutual animosity towards the same target. She got a taste of her own medicine when Irene, unafraid to hold back, suggested that Bettina herself had been foolish for falling for the wrong men and being easily manipulated. Irene further admonished Bettina, urging her to stop allowing her misery and heartbreak to poison the happiness of those around her.
