One of the hard truths about relationships is that people who give too much of themselves to their partners but don’t get the same amount of love back will eventually lose their sense of self.

However, there are the likes of Camille (Yukii Takahashi) from “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”, who, despite suffering from different forms of abuse from her partner David (McCoy de Leon), opts to come out of the other side of pain still full of love, especially when considering their baby.

In this Kapamilya Toplist video, we compile the scenes showing how much Camille sacrifices for love to the point of martyrdom.

The red flags are clear but Camille seems to ignore them. In the first scene, when she innocently asked who David was talking to on the phone, just curious if it was his boss, he became enraged and he accused her of overstepping boundaries. In truth, he was conversing with Olga (Irma Adlawan) about their scheme to steal Tanggol (Coco Martin)'s identity. To conceal his deceit, David manipulated Camille by making her feel guilty for her concern. He gaslighted her by labelling her as controlling and insisted that she remain silent as long as he’s providing her needs.

David’s horns became visible when he started getting money from Olga. One time, when Camille confronted him about his disrespect towards his mother and grandmother, he not only raised his voice but also physically hurt her. He callously suggested that she could leave at any time if she disapproves of how he acts at home.

She stayed even as David became increasingly self-absorbed and started to see other women. One evening, she noticed him returning home with a smile, unaware that he had just met a girl at a bar. When she said that she would just save his “pasalubong” for breakfast as she’s sleepy and tired, David snapped, expressing frustration that he wasted his effort to pick up food from the restaurant.

When she requested his company for her prenatal check-up, David abruptly cut her off, rudely dismissing her with money and telling her to go by herself. The insult was loud when he expressed disgust at her tired appearance and told her to buy new clothes, disregarding the fact that Camille neglects herself due to consistently serving him. He couldn’t even pour water into his own glass.

David completely turned evil when he raised his hand at Camille for simply inquiring about who he was texting. The physical abuse led them to a confrontation at the police station when Camille’s parents attempted to file charges upon seeing her bruises and wounds. Despite this, she was swayed by his fake promises of making it up to her and by the way he acted like the ideal boyfriend in front of their parents. However, as soon as they got home, he lashed out at her, blaming her for their situation.

The chaos at the Dimaguiba abode reached boiling point when Tindeng (Charo Santos) caught her son-in-law Rigor (John Estrada) engaging in an affair with his colleague. Fearing for her safety, Camille requested David that they move out. However, he dismissed her concerns and became enraged, accusing her of creating unnecessary drama and insinuating that she only causes him problems.

Despite the glaring signs of David’s toxicity, Camille still tries to love harder and look deeper hoping to find a redeeming quality in him.
