In the highly successful more-than-a-year run of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” it seemed that an episode with David, the character astoundingly portrayed by McCoy de Leon, in it would not conclude without the viewers getting infuriated because of how “sagad sa buto” his wickedness has become.
And in the past week’s episodes (August 26 to August 30) of the well-loved primetime series, viewers had probably found themselves totally gigil over him the entire week as we got to watch him repeatedly unleash his pang-“Best Actor” dramatic chops in each episode.
The news about the highly expensive and sought-after gem “Star of Diamond” has already reached the authorities after the owners of the gambling den, Conchita (Mae Paner) and Sebyo (Rolando Inocencio), relayed to PLTCOL Manuel Suarez (King Gutierrez) that a group of men used it as bet in one of their games.
Col. Suarez, who was revealed to be the protector of the gambling den, immediately passed on the information to PMGEN Augustus V. Pacheco (Julio Diaz). The latter then contacted Angkong (Joonee Gamboa), who turned it into a new mission for Lucio (Ronnie Lazaro) and the Batang Tondo gang.
The Batang Tondo gang, led by Edwin (Ping Medina), quickly went to the gambling den to ask for the characteristics of the group who hold the “Star of Venus.” They were able to figure out that they were referring to Tanggol and his friends based on the descriptions they gave.
As they returned to their hideout and relayed to Lucio what they found out, Lucio suggested to them that it may be better for them to keep the diamond once they were able to secure it, to which everyone agreed.
Thus, in order to fulfill their mission, they wasted no time to look for them by raiding the safehouse where the groups of Primo (Lito Lapid) and Tanggol (Coco Martin) were hiding along with several minions.
The latter were indeed surprised by the attack of the enemies, yet they still fought with all their might. Unfortunately, it cost the life of Eric (Kiko Matos), the dependable right-hand of Amanda (Lorna Tolentino), which got the viewers truly perplexed.
Since their number and weapons were no match to them, the groups of Tanggol and Primo were forced to flee. Meanwhile, Lucio and his squad may have failed to finish them off, but they were able to seize the bundles of cash and weapons that their rivals had left at the safehouse.
When they returned to the hideout of Angkong, Lucio got into a heated altercation with Roy (Jeffrey Tam) after the latter belittled him and used the name of her deceased wife, Yolly (Deborah Sun), in vain.
Although they already had the means to build a business of their own, Lucio isn’t keen on detaching from the Red Phoenix until they take hold of the power, fortune, and properties that they need in order to succeed and be known as the new Red Phoenix. Unbeknownst to them, Angkong and Roy were also planning to get rid of their group once they’re able to achieve their goals and fulfill their missions through them.
Since they had no other places to go, Tanggol was prompted to bring them to the hideout of his newfound friend, Boss Divina (Rosanna Roces), which is a showroom of luxury cars for her buy-and-sell business.
She revealed that Tanggol is her business partner, which compelled Tanggol to finally confess that he was the one who kept the “Star of Venus,” which drew mixed reactions from the group of Primo.
As Amanda (Lorna Tolentino) was apparently upset by what he did, Tanggol promised to fairly divide among each of them his share from the amount they’ll get in selling the gem. Divina’s kindness and generosity towards Tanggol seemed too good to be true, which got Primo, Amanda, and Berting (Joey Marquez) skeptical towards the wealthy woman.
The following day, Divina brought Tanggol and his friends to one of her properties, which Tanggol agreed to buy right off the bat when she offered it to him. She also promised to help them change their appearances by buying more decent clothes for each one of them and helping them establish their own illegal business.
It wasn’t only Tanggol and his friends whom she provided with total physical makeover, but Primo and his group as well, so that they’re going to look more presentable in the eyes of other people. At the same time, she also gave Tanggol a new gun.
In one of her private conversations with her henchmen, Divina conveyed that she only wants Tanggol to be able to establish himself because she sees potential in him with regard to becoming a good leader who’s willing to do anything for his group. She promised to give Tanggol and his group everything that they would need as long as they’re willing to obey her commands.
And for their first illegal business, they will manufacture and sell fake gold bars to wealthy people.
On the other hand, the Dimaguiba family finally learned about the death of Camille and her baby after Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) and Santino (Ronwaldo Martin) were informed that she was rushed to the hospital.
Being the treacherous and pretentious person that he was, David pulled off a show to make it appear that he was indeed grieving, when in fact he was actually the one who killed his ex-partner and their supposed child.
Marites didn’t only face the rage of Camille’s parents when she and Santino went to the hospital to check on Camille, but of Rigor as well. He berated her for not looking after Camille, saying that it was also part of her responsibility as the legit matriarch of their household.
Of course, it hurt Marites that her husband was blaming her for something that she actually didn’t have 100% control of. She told Santino that a part of her sensed that it wasn’t an accident and wished for the truth to prevail.
Rigor then went on to reach out to David to console him in these “trying times,” which prompted the latter to go home and leave Katherine (Ara Davao) for the second time in their honeymoon. David surely further triggered the gigil of the audiences as he continued with his dramatic show to get the favor of his unsuspecting and gullible father.
He went on with his drama the following day as Rigor interrogated him about what happened to Camille and vowed to do everything he could to resolve her case.
Rigor and Lena once again got into an altercation after she suggested for him to accept the ‘protection’ offered by Col. Suarez in exchange of not being expelled from service due to the case filed by Tindeng against him. As we all know, Rigor firmly stands by his principles and has established himself as a morally upright policeman.
At the police station, Rigor tried to ask Col. Suarez if he could handle Camille’s case. However, the latter denied his request since they’re prohibited from handling cases of people related to them. Rigor attempted to insist, but Col. Suarez warned him about being charged as well with insubordination apart from the adultery filed by his mother-in-law against him.
Meanwhile, as Ramon started getting in touch with Marites by hiring people who could look after her, Olga warned David about it. But now that he has become more arrogant since he has both the Montenegro and Caballero families in his hands after getting married to Katherine, he left the responsibility of resolving this trouble on Olga, which definitely infuriated her.
Here are some enthusiastic comments that netizens who got to watch the previous week’s episode of “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” posted on X (formerly Twitter).
