If you ask us who our current favorite character is in the “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,” the answer is definitely the gregarious and hilarious Roda (Joel Lamangan). He has everyone in stitches with his dialogues. We’re especially rooting for him in scenes where he serves the mistress Lena (Mercedes Cabral) a punch of real talk. Sometimes we all see a bit of ourselves in his annoyance with the ‘jumper’ (his new term for mistresses), as if he's basically become our spirit animal! 

First up, there’s that epic scene where Lena mocked Marites’ (Cherry Pie Picache)’s fresh makeup look for Rigor’s (John Estrada) pinning ceremony. Not one to let his new 'friend' down, Roda offered to do Lena's makeup too—except his version would make her look like she’s ready for the grave. LOL! Roda fueled Marites to snap back at the house's mistress, and when Lena stormed off, Roda lifted Marites’ hand like a champion, declaring her the knockout winner.

Thanks to Roda, mistresses now have a new nickname—‘jumper,’ inspired by illegal power connections. When Roda rented a room at Marites and Rigor's house, he was immediately on the lookout for a space. But when he opened a door to find Lena inside, he exclaimed, “Ay! May jumper! May ilegal na kabit! Ayoko dito!” 

In another real-talk session, Lena was excited about joining Rigor at his pinning ceremony. Roda, never one to hold back, said, “Wow! Feeling mo invited ka, ‘day? Mangarap ka! For your information, ang legal families lang ang invited sa mga gano’ng ceremony, para ka namang hindi pulis, mas marunong pa ako sa’yo.” Point for Team Roda!

We were also Team Roda when he called out the couple Nita (Susan Africa) and Marsing (Pen Medina) for pretending to be rich despite being knee-deep in debt. Their verbal showdown turned into a neighborhood spectacle, and when Nita raised the white flag, Roda quipped, “Nasa aming magaganda talaga ang huling halakhak.”

Also in this Kapamilya Update compilation is the hilarious moment when Tindeng (Charo Santos) and her employer Katherine (Ara Davao) visited Quiapo. Roda was smitten by Katherine's beauty and confidently remarked that looking at her was like looking in a mirror.

Roda doesn’t hold back, especially with Marites. He bluntly told her the gossip was true—that she’s a bit of an airhead for thinking she could find Tanggol all over Manila. Earlier, Marites couldn’t help but laugh when Roda first called her ‘friend’ while looking for a place to stay. He said it would be fair enough because Rigor brought a mistress home, so Marites bringing a ‘friend’ was justified. Even Marites couldn’t resist laughing at his wit.
