A royal celebration filled with cheer and music was held on ASAP Natin ‘To for the back-to-back birthday blast for OPM King Ogie Alcasid and Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales.
The opening segment was dedicated to the musical icon Ogie, featuring his top OPM hits. With his big contribution to the entertainment industry, all his loved ones came together to celebrate this special day.
Ogie’s beloved ASAP family put the energy on high first while performing the bop “Nakakalokal.” Ogie’s LVD Artist Management family represented by Lovi Poe, Janine Gutierrez, and JC de Vera joined in the celebration and sang “Dito Sa Puso Ko” with him.
Ogie’s It’s Showtime family Tyang Amy Perez and Karylle, along with “Tawag Ng Tanghalan” alumni Reiven Umali and Sam Mangubat, jammed “Peksman” as well on the ASAP stage to show him how happy they are to have welcomed him as a regular host on their show.
Ogie’s ATeam family, or the artist management he founded, also showered him with love. Lara Maigue, Gian Magdangal, Anthony Barion, Moira Lacambra, Poppert Bernadas, and Aikee sang “Ako’y Iyong Iyo” for Ogie. Later, Ogie’s fellow Kilabotito and ATeam member Ian Veneracion visited the studio to give him a warm birthday greeting.
OPM King Ogie was then joined by his dear wife Asia’s Songbird Regine Velasquez and his fellow ASAP veterans Gary Valenciano, Martin Nievera, and Zsa Zsa Padilla. All together, they sang Ogie’s most popular love songs “Ikaw Sana,” “Kailangan Ko'y Ikaw,” and “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka.”
To further hype up the afternoon party, the multitalented Lyric And Beat cast gave showstopping performances. New Gen Dance Princess AC Bonifacio and Asia’s Pop Heartthrob Darren Espanto unleashed a sizzling hot dance showdown. Top belters Sheena Belarmino, Jeremy Glinoga, and Kyle Echarri then stole the spotlight from them as they performed SB19’s “Bazinga!”
ASAP Divas Juris, Nina, KZ, Klarisse, and Angeline Quinto entered the stage next to offer a heartwarming tribute to popular singer-actress Olivia Newton-John. They beautifully sang Olivia’s memorable hits “I Love You, I Honestly Love You” and “Hopelessly Devoted To You.”
Audiences' hearts fluttered further with the sweet duet of “Faded” delivered by He’s Into Her stars Donny Pangilinan and Belle Mariano.
This was then followed by the New Gen Birit Idols’ moving renditions of today’s top OPM hits. Janine Berdin belted “Mahika,” the song she created with Adie. Reiven, on the other hand, crooned Rob Deniel’s “Kundiman” before Sheena serenaded the crowd with Moira’s “Kumpas.” JM Yosures culminated the segment with his magnificent version of The Juan’s “Anghel.”
Asia’s Songbird Regine, Divine Diva Zsa Zsa, and Megastar Sharon dedicated a special tribute too for the country’s La Primera Contravida Cherie Gil. She may have gone too soon, but her legacy continues. The group sang “Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas” and “Bituing Walang Ningning” with powerful emotions as they remembered Cherie and all the love and hard work she contributed when she was alive.
Finally, the afternoon party was closed with another heartfelt celebration — a musical treat for the birthday of Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita Corrales. She graced the ASAP stage while singing OPM classics, including some of her popular hits.
King of Teleserye Theme Songs Erik Santos, The Voice Jed Madela, and Mr. Pure Energy Gary V began the performance with “Kapantay Ay Langit.” This was followed by Pilita’s very own song “Ang Pipit” with the New Gen Birit Idols Fana, Lara, Sheena, and Elha Nympha.
OPM idols Klarisse, Nyoy Volante, Jason Dy, and Jolina Magdangal also joined the momentous celebration singing “Usahay.” Pilita’s beloved family Diego Gutierrez, Maxine Gutierrez, and Arabella Davao also didn’t want to miss the special tribute, so they gave a touching rendition of “Gaano Ko Ikaw Kamahal.”
Of course, the birthday of Pilita Corrales wouldn’t be complete without her iconic song “A Million Thanks to You.” As expected, Asia’s Queen of Songs Pilita gave an outstanding performance of her classic song with the help of musical divas Regine, Angeline, Zsa Zsa.
