Now that we really can feel that Christmas is fast-approaching, avid Kapamilya fans have been looking forward to this year’s Christmas ID titled “Tayo Ang Ligaya Ng Isa’t Isa,” which teasers and behind-the-scene photos were already released in late October.
And before we can finally hear this another sure-fire Yuletide hymn, which full lyrics will be unveiled this Friday, November 11, Entertainment.ABS-CBN.com launched a poll early this month to find out which among the Christmas IDs in the past two decades have continually conveyed joy to ardent Kapamilyas up to the present. After a week, the results are now out and “Bro, Ikaw Ang Star Ng Pasko” is the winner!
Majority of the netizens apparently still can’t move on from the 2009 holiday anthem. Receiving the greatest percentage of 23%, it has successfully held its status as the consistent top favorite Christmas ID ever-released by ABS-CBN. Inspired by the well-loved teleserye May Bukas Pa, which was truly a hit that year, as well as the resiliency displayed by the Filipinos during the onslaught of Typhoon Ondoy, this melodious tune is a reminder that no disaster or difficulty could break the Filipino faith and strength.
“Thank You For The Love” was initially the frontrunner of this poll, but it eventually dropped to second place as it garnered only 19% in the last day. Apart from its stimulating lyrics that speak about love and thankfulness even amidst tribulations, setbacks, and defeats, another reason why a lot love it could be because it was sung by on-and-off-screen power couples KathNiel, JaDine, and LizQuen.
Claiming the third spot is the 2021 Christmas hymn “Andito Tayo Para Sa Isa’t Isa”, which raked in 17% of votes. Many are touched by its meaningful message, conveying that there’s an end to our ordeals and sorrows as long as we continue to hope, pray, and be there for each other as one family. Timely indeed for everything that we went through in the past two years and what ABS-CBN stands for.
Next on the roll is the 2020 Christmas ID “Ikaw Ang Liwanag At Ligaya”, which received 11% of the votes. It is succeeded by 2019’s “Family Is Forever” with 6% and “Angat Ang Ligaya ng Pasko” with 4%.
Meanwhile, “Family Is Love” (2018), “Ngayong Pasko Magniningning Ang Pilipino” (2010), and “Isang Pamilya, Isang Puso Ngayong Pasko” (2002) all got 2%. And lastly, “Just Love Ngayong Christmas” (2017), “Isang Pamilya Tayo Ngayong Pasko” (2016), and “Magkasama Tayo Sa Kuwento Ng Pasko” (2013) all received 1%.
Do you agree with the results, Kapamilya?
