Whether it’s just in the genes or the result of her early exposure to showbiz tagging along with her mom and dad to their movie sets, Kaila Estrada is clearly following in her parents’ footsteps.

But people don’t simply tag her as “anak ni Janice De Belen at John Estrada.” Now she’s broken free from her parents’ profile, known as her own person and her own talent. People now acknowledge her as Kaila, the actress with superb acting skills as Raven Ramones in Viral Scandal. Then, being recognized as Janice and John’s daughter just follows out of further curiosity.

“Honestly, sobrang overwhelmed pa rin ako. I’m so grateful. I feel so blessed and I’m so touched na nare-recognize ako for being me and my characters. It feels so fulfilling and that’s what I really want naman din talaga,” she said in this episode of Kapamilya Chat.

Kaila continues to gain praise for her impressive performance in Viral Scandal. Well besides it being a natural gift, her parents’ pieces of advice add to her whole package as an actress.

When it comes to offers, she decides on her own. But at times when she feels the jitters and pressure, or she struggles to absorb a scene, Kaila would run to her parents for tips. Janice would tell her to look back on how she’s able to pull off her past performances. Beyond the acting lessons, her mom is more concerned about her health and safety in the taping bubble, thus the constant reminder to eat well and stay hydrated especially after doing a heavy scene.

Kaila was exposed to tapings at an early age. She would tag along with her parents on the set, not because she wants to be an ‘artista’ then but to just bond with them. “Nung mga panahon na ‘yun, sobrang busy sila pareho so walang masyadong time na nasa bahay lang sila. So ang ginagawa namin, sumasama kami sa taping para at least may time to spend kami, para dun lang kami sa tent.” The early exposure is another factor that pulled her into the path of showbiz.

Living with their mom, Kaila can say Janice used to be super strict, “As in pinagbabawalan niya kami dati mag-fieldtrip. Ayaw niyang sumabay kami sa bus kasi natatakot siya. Hindi kami pwedeng mag-overnight sa bahay ng kaklase namin. Ganun siya kahigpit.” But things have changed now that they’re all adults. Her dad, on the other hand, is strict when it comes to boys and suitors.

Kaila further talked about her parents’ little quirks and trivia bits about them. She mentioned that Janice has 20 years’ worth of giraffe collection arranged inside a huge cabinet. Janice also loves K-Dramas and she’s crushing on Korean actors, too, with Song Koong-Ki as her main ‘bias.’

She added that Janice is not into makeups. She even asked her aunt Gelli De Belen about this, “Kaya siguro ang ganda-ganda balat ni Mama. Sabi ni Tita Gelli, ever since daw si Mama hindi talaga masyadong maabala sa makeup and I guess it’s because sobrang ganda na ni Mama so hindi na kailangan.”

Janice is also not a beach person, “Gusto niya pag nagta-travel, sa mga malalamig na weather, ‘yun ang mas gusto niya.”

Next up, trivia about John, who currently stars in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano! She said her dad loves to work out, “I guess kasi matagal din siya nag-model bago nag-artista.” He’s a car enthusiast, “I guess, I would say ‘yun ang luho niya.” He’s a natural comedian, “’Pag nagkukuwentuhan kami, there’s never a dull moment. He always makes us laugh.”

She added that John is athletic, “He knows how to play so many sports. As in kahit kakaturo mo lang sa kanya, maiintindihan niya agad kung paano.” And that he’s a master in any kind of games including board and card games.
