As a progressive teleserye, a big part of Viral Scandal’s campaign is to enlighten viewers on issues that are daring and relevant. To be able to help viewers understand such delicate topics, the series defined unfamiliar terms uttered by the characters – from Gen Z slang to legal jargon – through graphics flashed in random scenes.

 

Anti-Voyeurism Law

Besides the rape case, which the court easily junked due to the Ramoneses’ connections, Rica (Charlie Dizon)’s camp filed Anti-Voyeurism cases against Jigs (Markus Paterson) and his friends for sharing her sensitive video without consent.

 

Arraignment

In a scene, Mayor Troy (Jake Cuenca) asked Atty. Laura (Ria Atayde) the schedule for Jigs’ arraignment, which is one of the earliest processes in a case wherein an accused pleads guilty or not guilty.

AUD (Alcohol Use Disorder)

Due to family problems and feeling of isolation, Raven (Kaila Estrada) resorted to alcohol drinking leading to AUD but later on managed her symptoms after getting in a rehabilitation center.

 

Awit

In a random conversation on campus, Pogs (Aljon Mendoza) exclaimed “awit” when Bea (Karina Bautista) said her friend recommended Atty. Laura to act as Rica’s counsel.

 

Boomer

Rica called her family members “boomer” when they had violent reactions on her giving her youngest sibling Nico (Louise Abuel) condoms.

 

Cave

Jigs used the term “cave” while trying to convince Raven to seek professional help to control her alcohol use disorder.

 

Cray Cray

A friend commented that Audrey (Maxene Magalona) would sure go “cray cray” or crazy with the leakage of Kakay (Dimples Romana)’s photos as an escort girl.

 

Demurrer to Evidence

In a scene, Rica’s camp worried about Jigs’ motion to dismiss the case due to insufficient evidence.

 

FC

Bea used the term “FC” or feeling close when she found out Brax (Sky Quizon) befriended her to get near his real crush, Pogs.

 

Flex

When Rica doubted her performance in the Architecture Board Exam, her family encouraged her saying just being able to finish the test is a feat to be proud of and should be flexed.

 

It’s Fire

Brax uttered “it’s fire” in amazement as Bea came out of the house wearing her party dress.

 

Joy Reserver

In the middle of online selling, Kakay reminded her buyers to avoid reserving items they have no plans of buying.  

 

Levonorgestrel

A week after the rape incident, Rica had herself checked and was advised to take “levonorgestrel” to prevent possible pregnancy.

 

MO

Mayor Troy uttered “MO” while discussing the effects of Kakay’s scandalous past on Rica’s case, thinking the leaked photos are just part of the enemies’ tactics.

 

Obvs

The mean girls on campus insisted that Kakay and Mayor Troy are “obviously” still having an affair.

 

Party Pooper

Brax called the campus mean girl Jen a “party pooper” when she ruined the mood by provoking Bea. 

 

Plea Bargain

Talking with the Sicats, Atty. Laura explained that it would be better if Rica attends the arraignment in case Jigs pleads guilty to a lesser sentence.

 

Rape Trauma Syndrome

In a scene, Kakay explained to Bea and Pogs that Rica’s anxious reaction to things happening around her is a symptom of Rape Trauma Syndrome.

 

Salty

Trying to fit in, Bea used the word “salty” talking about other schoolmates with her new squad.

 

Shipper

Kyle (Joshua Garcia) called Axel (Jameson Blake) a “shipper” when he showed support to his relationship with Rica.

 

SR

Worried about her viral vlog taken from the Ramones mansion, Bea explained she intended to delete it afterwards but netizens were quick to screen-record the video. 

 

Subpoena Ad Testification

Grilling Archie (Vance Larena) in the court, Atty. Laura explained to the judge that the accused was issued a writ to compel his attendance.
