As a mom of two, Dimples Romana is used to answering her kids’ unfiltered questions. But there was one time her daughter, then-14-year-old Callie Ahmee left her dumbfounded.
In an episode of Tonight with Boy Abunda in 2018, Dimples shared that Callie once asked her, “Mommy, why are you not bida? They should’ve given you Best Actress, not Best Supporting Actress.” The question came after Dimples received an accolade for her performance in The Greatest Love.
Despite not being the lead actress in her more than two decades in this industry, Dimples said she’s content and grateful. So she told Callie, “To tell you, frankly, I’m okay where I am. I’m okay with Best Supporting Actress. I’m very happy with it.”
She continued, “For the 21 years that I have been an actor, I have reached a point where I do not mind where I am, where I’ll be, where I came from. What is important to me is that my dream of being an actor is still alive because I’m still working.”
Dimples’ showbiz career was launched in March 1997 as one of the members of ABS-CBN Star Circle Batch 4. After playing various roles in television and movies, she became more popular as Daniela in the hit series Kadenang Ginto. Currently, she’s back on primetime as Celine on The Iron Heart.
