Age surely is just a number, and the timeless appeal of actor Ian Veneracion proves so. He might be tagged as tito at times but there is no doubt that Ian can still pass as a heartthrob. He’s even pitted against younger millennial actors.

Others might look at aging as a disadvantage especially in showbiz where the possible roles are expected to narrow down once an actor becomes older. But Ian has a fresher perspective about this. He believes that age is an edge. “I truly believe that age is an advantage,” he said, adding that being more experienced makes him more effective as well.

Kung i-ko-compare ko ‘yung sarili ko ngayon kaysa nu’ng age ko na early 20s, ‘di hamak na mas may advantage ako ngayon whether in terms of roles.” Ian takes age-related comments as a compliment to his effectiveness as an actor.

When asked if being older makes him a better on-screen kisser, Ian said, “Dapat lang! Nakakahiya naman kung all those years hindi ka natuto, di ba?” He added that years of experience in showbiz helped him sharpen the ability to serve the audiences with natural ‘kilig’. “Kasi may understanding ka na ng audience mo or women, for example.”

Ian would often tell in interviews that he is happy to be called the heartthrob of aged fans, for he thinks the senior viewers are more discerning and not easily convinced compared to the younger and inexperienced audiences.
