Sports enthusiasts tag Alyssa Valdez as “The Phenom” due to her remarkable volleyball skills. But despite the accolade and incessant praises, the former Lady Blue Eagle remains grounded and craving for improvement. She doesn’t settle with just her current wins and she makes sure to display a better game each time.
In her TWBA guesting in 2019, Alyssa shared a personal technique she used inside the court to make a perfect-landing service and toss. She told Boy Abunda to look for the spot where a ball pump needle is inserted and make sure to hit that spot with your palm. This can make the ball float smoothly and drop in the end. Although, the tactic still requires good timing in order to work.
Proving her thirst for growth was her decision to enter the world of acting. “Confident ako!” the athlete said in jest when asked about her transformation as a movie actress. Alyssa relates that there are people who would easily give up when faced with either a little or major dilemma within a relationship. But according to Alyssa, her debut film “My Letters to Happy” showed that there are also others who are willing to stay despite the struggles and pain of falling in love.
To test her acting skills, The King Of Talk dares Alyssa to deliver a line from “Got To Believe,” the last movie filmed by Alyssa’s favorite actor, Rico Yan. Alyssa uttered “I never really believed in forever but I think I found forever in you” in varying emotions.
