She may be soft-spoken, but young artist Xai Martinez’s dulcet voice is powerful enough for her to fulfill her dream of making it to The Voice Kids Season 5 and sharing her talent to the world.

According to her Mommy Imee, they discovered her singing skills when she was six. And since then, her beloved dad has served as her trainer. The 12-year-old kid from Caloocan City believes that she got it from her both her parents since her mom sings in a choir, while her dad is a ‘frustrated singer’ and band member. Aside from the trainings and voice lessons she got from her dad, her vocal prowess also gets honed by joining various singing contests often.

Apart from simply making her dream to get into The Voice Kids come true, Xai also aims to use this as a platform for her to be able to share her talent and become known as a singer around the world. And she succeeded as her mellifluous rendition of Nina’s “Someday” made coaches Bamboo and KZ Tandingan turn their red chairs for her.

Coach KZ admired how her small and sweet voice was able to “command attention and silence in the room”, while Coach Bamboo got impressed by her storytelling and character as a singer. In the end, Xai decided to be part of Team Supreme.

In her The Voice Kids DigiTV interview, she revealed to hosts Jeremy G and Elha Nympha that her parents discovered how pleasant her speaking voice is when she was around only three to four years old. They actually had her join the fourth season of the contest, but failed to make it to the Blind Auditions. Nonetheless, that didn’t discourage to continue practicing and training because it’s really her dream to sing and join The Voice Kids.
