Those who have been watching The Voice Kids Season 5 since Day 1 would surely remember young artist Shane Bernabe as the 12-year-old girl fangirl of Coach KZ Tandingan, who dreams of being mentored by her.
However, after she was able to make all the three coaches turn for her impressive version of “Dukha” by Aegis, she surprised everyone when she ended up choosing to Bamboo to be her coach rather than her idol.
The “The Fantastic Fangirl” went on to stand out the most against her fellow Kamp Kawayan artists Chaelna Magnaye and Charyl Pardo as they performed the anthemic pop-rock hit “Next In Line” by After Image during the Battle Rounds. Coincidentally, she was also the choice of Coach Martin Nievera and Coach KZ, with Coach Bamboo declaring that it was her who checked out all his criteria of the artist he would take to the grand finals.
Shane went on to amaze the coaches with her unique cover of Rivermaya’s “Kisapmata” in the Sing-offs. Coach Martin regarded her as a “superstar” already, while Coach KZ commended her for a job well done! On the other hand, Coach Bamboo, expressed how he liked it that she applied what exactly they had discussed into her performance and even added her own touch to it.
And in the semi-finals, the “Kiddie Pop Rockstar” astounded us with her awesome version of Gloc-9’s “Upuan,” in which she’s able to also show off not just her versatile vocals, but her rapping skills, too, making her the “secret weapon” of Kamp Kawayan according to the Concert King.
That performance received 54.42% of online votes, ending the run of her fellow Kamp Kawayan artists Princess J Cañete (26.83%) and Sab Paica (18.74%).
Will Shane be the shiniest star of The Voice Kids Season 5? Well, let’s all find out in the grand finals, which we can watch on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, and TV5.
