There’s definitely more to Sab Paica than just a pretty face. The firstborn of her engineer-dad based in Qatar and a carinderia owner-mom, the 11-year-old pride of Sto. Tomas City, Batangas can also slay with her beautiful vocals.
Since they own an eatery, in which her mom also cooks while she sometimes takes charge of the cash register, host Bianca Gonzalez relayed the good news to Sab that she’s invited to the blind auditions by making her believe that she and her Mommy Mary Grace were having an appearance on Magandang Buhay.
According to her mom, they discovered her penchant to sing when she was younger as she would sing while writing or coloring. They noticed it, so her grandfather decided to train her to further develop her vocals.
Armed by her desire for her dad to see her on TV and to make him happy and proud at least through music, she took on the The Voice Kids stage with her refreshing version of the Eraserheads hit “Huwag Mo Nang Itanong Sa Akin.” Coach Bamboo might be the first one to turn for her, with Coach KZ Tandingan following suit in the last few seconds of her performance, yet she still opted to be part of Team Supreme.
Aside from giving them a teaser of what she can offer in the competition, she also gave them a taste of the rice cakes they sell at their family eatery.
In her The Voice Kids DigiTV interview, Sab disclosed that she was shocked when two coaches turned for her because she really didn’t expect it. She also revealed that one of the reasons why she chose the Asia’s Soul Supreme is that she idolizes her, so she’s looking forward to work with her. Besides, she’s excited to meet her fellow young artists under Team Supreme, especially the one she will go head-to-head with in the Battle Rounds.
When quizzed by hosts Jeremy G and Elha Nympha regarding her “ingredients” to succeeding in this competition, she enumerated: “First po, kailangan n’yo po talaga ng practice, prayer at mapusong pagkanta or mapuso po kayo mag-express ng song.”
Furthermore, she imparted that aside from singing, she’s into cooking, landscape painting, and sewing, too!
