A good fight scene must be masterfully choreographed and realistically done. And we witnessed one in last night’s #TIHSparring episode of Kapamilya series The Iron Heart.

Apollo (Richard Gutierrez) and Eros (Jake Cuenca) agreed to engage in a gritty fisticuff set up by their bosses Orcus (Christian Vasquez) and Selene (Dimples Romana) in a secret place with a cheering audience.

“’Yung amo mo at si Orcus, ang lakas ng trip! Sila nag-set up nito,” Apollo aka Tisoy told Eros when the latter arrived. The daredevil Eros took it as a welcome surprise, “Let’s put on a show, shall we?” For Apollo, it was just another test they must finish to gain the confidence of Tatsulok members. It was a display of martial arts bravado and muscular intensity, so engaging we couldn't choose just one fighter.

Three hard punches later, Apollo proved nobody should dare mess with him.

The brawn and efficient fighting styles are just some of the elements that had us deeply invested in the scene. To elevate its texture, the creatives employed cinematic techniques such as slow-motion whenever the fighters’ hardy fists land on each other’s faces and droplets of sweat would fall off. The result was so epic.

The Iron Heart has kept its promise to push action to new heights, even if it may be a Herculean task that sometimes comes with genuine pain. In this collection of behind-the-scenes photos, we see the actors’ hard work in mounting a realistic fight scene – “soul, body, mind, and commitment,” as Jake puts it.
