With his unmistakable charm and handsomeness, it’s definitely impossible to not notice up-and-coming actor Brent Manalo as he plays Migs Ilustre, the younger brother of Zanjoe Marudo’s character David in the well-loved primetime series The Broken Marriage Vow.
For sure, his admirers and viewers of the show want to know him better, so we invited him to grace an episode of Kapamilya Confessions recently, wherein he enthusiastically responded to some of the questions sent in by netizens. But before that, he took on first the “Cheat Day or Maybe Next Time Challenge,” in which he had to determine whether he would wish to eat or refuse to consume the food given to him.
According to him, he would have lechon, sinigang, ice cream, soft drinks, junk food, and cake “maybe next time,” while he’s willing to have his “cheat day” if he would be offered adobo, pizza, pasta, and burgers.
Moving on to the Kapamilya Confessions proper, Brent gamely responded to questions that were either personal or about his character. He started off the segment by answering the question with regards to confronting someone he knows who cheats, saying that he would certainly reprimand him/her. Besides, he would never tolerate nor cover up for someone who’s committing illicit acts, especially if both parties involved are close to him. He’s also proud to disclose that he’s been faithful with his partners in the romantic relationships he had and reminded everyone to never justify cheating since it’s absolutely wrong regardless of the reason.
Meanwhile, when asked how he prepared for his character Migs – who he described as makulit, madaldal, and outgoing – Brent related that he had briefings with their directors and scrupulously studied the script and his role. Since Migs is perceived to be someone upright, he expressed his all-out support for Team Jill (Jodi Sta. Maria) over Team Lexy (Sue Ramirez), not to mention that she’s his sister-in-law in the series and that he personally abhors cheating.
Since The Broken Marriage Vow is a family drama, he revealed that he was able to relate in a lot of scenes, making it impossible to pinpoint one to which he could find himself the most. However, he refused to expose whether or not he’s going to cheat as well like his older brother David (Zanjoe Marudo) as the story progresses, and advised the viewers to better not miss an episode in order to find it out ourselves because every character will surely surprise us.
When asked if he thinks that Migs has the right to give his Kuya David advise about infidelity, he firmly believes that he has despite his age, since it’s a family matter.
With regards to working with the cast, Brent implied that he really enjoyed every moment he had with them during their three month-long lock-in taping in Baguio last year, not only because he was able to bond and get along with his co-actors, but was also able to learn from his talented castmates, especially Jodi, Zanjoe, Zaijian Jaranilla, and Susan Africa to whom he shared a lot of scenes with.
Thus, the bond that he had with the cast and crew, and the overall experience he had since it was his first-ever acting stint are what make this truly memorable and the best part of his being cast on the show.
He also took this opportunity to express his admiration towards bankable actress and television presenter Anne Curtis, who is one of the local personalities he’s been dreaming to work with in the future.
