The Star Magic All-Star Games 2023 showcased an exhilarating volleyball match between the Lady Setters and Lady Spikers, last Sunday, May 22, at the Mall of Asia Arena, as both teams sweated it out with collective efforts and individual prowess.

The atmosphere was great as soon as the players trooped into the court. The Star Magic Lady Setters, clad in green jersey uniforms, was composed of team captain Janah Zaplan, BINI Mikha, Brenda Mage, Thamara Alexandria, Abi Kassem, Isabel Laohoo, Arabella del Rosario, Krystal Ball, Seham Daghlas, Sela Guia, Kyzha Villalino, Rica Kriemhild, Moira Lacambra, and Mela Habijan, reinforced by Aby Maraño and Gretchel Soltones of Premier Volleyball League’s F2 Logistics Cargo Movers and Petro Gazz Angels, respectively.

Team captain Analain Salvador, Loisa Andalio, Vivoree, Anji Salvacion, Gillian Vicencio, Angela Ken, Ashley Colet, Carmela Ford, Mutya Orquia, Aya Fernandez, VJ Ai dela Cruz, PJ Endrial, Erin Navarro, Jhai Ho, with Gel Cayuna and Rachel Ann Daquis both from PVL’s Cignal HD Spikers as imports, made up the Star Magic Lady Spikers team.

Cheers came in full swing, with other celebrities like Joshua Garcia and Zanjoe Marudo spotted in the audience. Daniel Padilla, who later on played at the basketball main event, stayed at the courtside to support his sister, Carmela Ford, and cousin, Analain Salvador

The game was off to a good start, as the girls delivered some badass skills. The Lady Spikers dominated the first set, with Gel and Analain setting the tone, while Loisa, Vivoree, and Carmela showed up in supporting roles. Meanwhile, Brenda Mage and Jhai Ho stole the show with their little face-off and funny ‘twerking’ antics on the court.

The Lady Spikers carried on with the promising start until the second set, with Rachel Ann sealing their win. They took home the championship trophy, automatically decimating the Lady Setters to 1st runner-up.

The top star of the night was Analain, who bagged the coveted MVP distinction and led her team’s intense performance with 11 points, which shouldn’t come as a surprise since national men’s volleyball team player and the game’s commentator Rex Intal mentioned that he used to train Analain when she was younger. To recall, she was also last year’s MVP.

Analain was joined by Erin, BINI Mikha, Gillian, Janah, and Isabel in the Mythical 6 selection. BINI Mikha also copped the Best Setter award. Gillian was the game’s Best Receiver, while Analain took home three medals as she also earned the Best Hitter honor.
