Kapamilya star Vivoree Esclito expands her artistic horizon with the slated release of her first EP (Extended Playlist), which is an ode to her fellow women, inspiring them to be as fierce as she is. In this episode of Kapamilya Chat, she takes us to the making of her first single and its music video, plus what listeners can expect from her “matapang” era.

Vivoree glowed with gratitude when asked how she feels to be one of the busiest stars today as she also appears in various TV shows apart from working on her EP. She thought of the word “blessed” as she reflects on her journey in showbiz and thanked her supporters.

Talking about her first single “Matapang,” she mentioned it’s about feeling scared to fall in love until one finally takes the courage to admit their feelings. This resonates with the gorgeous Boholana, who once fell in love, got scared, and eventually let go as means of being bold.

“It was a great experience,” she said. “But there are things talaga na you have to be brave din sa other stuff like letting somebody go. Aside from loving bravely, may ibang type of katapangan din tayong ginagawa sa buhay natin.”

Though she learned a thing about courage from that experience, Vivoree opts not to be outspoken when it comes to romance. She’d rather let the man do all the chasing and talking. A hopeless romantic, she wants to be pursued, be swept off her feet. She fantasies a happily ever after.

This is reflected in the music video of “Matapang” which has an ethereal, fairy tale concept where Vivoree looked like a goddess and her prince charming was Brent Manalo. She wants to empower women through her song and music video, hence dressing up as a fairy goddess.

She added that Brent was her top choice for her leading man, “In my mind, naisip ko na talaga siya, si Brent. Hindi ko lang sinabi kasi nahiya ako sabihin, eh.” The two showed strong chemistry, thus ViBrent shippers are voicing out on social media their request to see the two in a follow-up project.

Vivoree said she’s open to working with anyone as a love team partner as long as she’s comfortable with that person, which she feels toward Brent. Before this music video, they worked together in Star Magic’s “Hot Summer in Baler” digital special, although they weren’t close at the time. They met again at the Star Magical Ball but still didn’t talk much. They just became officially friends during their music video shoot.

Going back to women empowerment, Vivoree mentioned that the EP was crafted by an all-female production team. When asked how brave women are today, she answered, “I think may kanya-kanyang katapangan kaming mga babae. For example, mas vocal na kami sa thoughts namin, opinion namin, mas nasasabi namin. Sa generation naman natin ngayon, mas nagiging open na din lahat ng tao. Kaya din kaming mga babae mas nagiging matapang kami in expressing ourselves.”

She continued, “We have role models as well, women na nakakapag-empower sa aming mga younger generation ng mga babae.” The 22-year-old artist shared that ‘freshness’ is her armor “’Pag nakaligo na ako, feeling ko I can do anything,” she said in jest when asked when she feels most empowered.

She also mentioned that she tends to bottle up her emotions until there comes a time the struggles pile up. At such moments, she seeks out support from her trusted people. She underscored the importance of having someone to listen to your feelings – that way, you’d feel even more “matapang.”
