His soulful rendition of the Stevie Wonder classic “Isn’t She Lovely” during his audition for Idol Philippines Season 2 easily won the hearts not only the judges who gave him a resounding “Yes!,” but the viewers as well. And Khimo Gumatay went on to impress us in his succeeding performances, thus, making him truly deserving to be its grand winner.

As he begins his journey in the local entertainment scene, for sure, many Kapamilya viewers out there are curious about him. Just in case you’re one of them, watch this video from ABS-CBN Star Music, wherein the up-and-coming crooner imparts 10 things about him that we may not know yet!

Aside from being a certified “idol” in singing, we’re indeed amazed upon finding out that he’s actually blessed with many talents. Prior to focusing on his musical chops, Khimo revealed that he used to be a tattoo artist and one of the youngest in the country as he began when he was only 13. He was able to master oriental art, which includes designs inspired by Japanese, Southeast Asian, and local art.

Just on the very first time that he graced the Idol PH, we couldn’t help but notice that he also got the swag. And it’s probably because he is also a dancer, with “krumping” as one of his most favorite dance genres because it allows him to express himself.

The 23-year-old talented charmer from Makati City is athletic, too, as his favorite pastime is boxing and running. He used to usually run before he sleeps and cover 10 kilometers!

He’s also part of a band called “Far East Bronx,” which he already misses since he hasn’t seen them for quite a while now. Of course, he didn’t forget to thank them for supporting him in his personal endeavor and told them how he loves them.

Another thing that impressed us about him is that he’s a Political Science graduate and majored in Paralegal Studies. It might be his last choice, but he still chose to pursue it since he originally planned to be part of the police force or the armed forces. He also aspires to serve the public.

While people his age may be fond of partying, Khimo is actually not the type as he’s not into loud electro-dance music and drinking liquors, and prefers to chill in quiet places. And we can say that being “classically trained” or having classical songs and kundiman as his foundation or first training in music has probably something to do with it.

And lastly, he confessed that his left ear is quite impaired. Thus, wearing in-earphones truly helped him during his performances since he’s technically deaf.
