She’s undoubtedly one of the most well-loved housemates in the celebrity edition of Pinoy Big Brother Kumunity Season 10. But prior to her remarkable stint in the reality show, Alexa Ilacad has been long admired for her mesmerizing beauty and impressive talent in acting and singing throughout her 17 years in the local entertainment scene.
And in this episode of PUSH Evolution, let’s look back on her transformation from that adorable child star to becoming one of her generation’s well-loved and most talented artists.
From appearing in television commercials of various huge brands as a child, she went on to become part of the long-running kiddie gag show Goin’ Bulilit in 2008 at the age of 8. Her acting chops were honed and discovered there, which paved the way for her to score a slew of acting projects, such as May Bukas Pa (2009), Maalaala Mo Kaya, and Nasaan Ka Elisa? (2011), as well as the younger counterparts of the female leading characters in Pablo S. Gomez's Gagambino (2008) and Komiks Presents: Nasaan Ka Maruja? (2009).
After her graduation, Alexa continually appeared in a number of MMK episodes and other ABS-CBN programs like Luv U Season 2, Banana Split, Toda Max, Honesto, Maria Mercedes, and Wansapantaym. Her dramatic prowess was further noticed in the 2014 coming-of-age series Bagito, which he starred opposite her then-on-and-off-screen-partner Nash Aguas. She got cast in the afternoon soap opera Doble Kara in 2016, as well as in the primetime series The Good Son in 2017, which also marked the end of her team-up with Nash called NLex following their breakup.
The 21-year-old actress went on to astound us with her performances in the controversial revenge drama The Killer Bride (2019), where she played Luna Dela Cuesta; in the “Iskolar” episode of Ipaglaban Mo (2019) as crime witness Abby; and in the romance-drama series Init Sa Magdamag (2019), where she was admired as Hannah Salcedo.
Aside from these Kapamilya programs, she also showcased her acting talent on the big screen through her appearances in several Star Cinema flicks, with her portrayal as the younger Bobbie Salazar in “Four Sisters Before The Wedding”, the spin-off to the iconic “Four Sisters and A Wedding”, as her latest film project.
Alexa, as we all know, is also a talented singer and songwriter. Before she’s able to exhibit her facet as a musician inside the PBB house, the “Smartista Unica Hija ng Pasig” already showed it through her stints in ASAP Natin ‘To and reality music competition We Love OPM: The Celebrity Sing-offs (2016) and her song covers that she uploaded online. These enabled her to score a recording deal with her current label Off The Record, through which she released her songs “Stay Right Here” and “Love At First Sight”.
Way to go, Alexa!
