This August, PIE Channel will be premiering a new show called “Mukhang Perya”. Main host Eric Nicolas is excited to bring the ultimate “perya” experience to viewers’ homes. Besides entertainment, viewers will also get the chance to win prizes.

Eric also hosts PIE Channel's “Sinong Manok Mo” where he invades different baranggays, and even far-flung areas, rain or shine, to bring happiness and entertainment. Hosting “Sinong Manok Mo” is a challenging task, but Eric finds it fulfilling at the same time.

Becoming a TV host is an ambition held by many. And while Eric is born with the skill, his road to his big break was a bumpy one – but it’s one interesting and inspiring journey. He started as an animator and then became a stand-up comedian. Eric’s big break came when he worked as an audience jester in “Wowowee” It was when his life’s calling became more apparent.

Did you know that the popular game “Hep Hep Hooray” was invented by Eric as his means to entertain the live audience during commercial breaks? It was soon adapted into a full-blown segment and has become so iconic that Pinoys still love playing it to this day.

Behind stand-up comedy is a performer’s deep emotions. Nobody can be happy all the time. But the show must always go on. “Pilitin mo maging masaya kasi magre-reflect ‘yan, eh. Kailangan marunong ka maghiwalay ng lungkot mo. Kalimutan mo muna ‘yan, lagyan mo ng boundary,” he imparted when asked how he keeps a happy facade in front of his audience even when he’s going through rough days.

His advice to aspiring hosts or entertainers is to find ways to sharpen their talent. Because while it must come naturally, it also takes hard work and eagerness to learn.

Kapamilya Chat then asked him to take on fun challenges that reveal fun facts about himself. We begin with the “Kapamilya Chat Firsts” Challenge where he shared his memorable firsts. One could learn from Eric’s decision to invest in a house and lot first. He said that it’s important for him and his family to have a roof over the head and not worry about rental fees.

His first overseas trip was to London for a show with his fellow stand-up comedians. He first performed in a comedy bar. This funny man is also into Korean dramas, and the first K-drama he liked was “Miracle in Cell No. 7.” He got his first piercing when he was still in a band.

When at home, he expresses love for his family by cooking for them, and the first recipe he mastered was adobo.

The first person who has inspired him to become better is his wife – his source of comfort, and his shield from negative influences.

In the next game called “Sandok Tanong” Challenge, he must scoop pieces of paper with questions into a container using a kitchen spatula. Nothing but good vibes here! When asked his last best kiss, he answered, “Everyday, kay misis.” She’s also the person he’d likely text at 3 AM.

He also shared that his favorite ice cream flavor is ube.

Asked his favorite body part of the opposite sex, he thought of the legs. As a former animator, Eric is fascinated with beautifully-shaped bodies.

What about the best breakup line? “Ciao!”
