Alexa Ilacad and KD Estrada take on bigger challenges as they expand their careers from being a singing pair to an acting tandem in the Kapamilya series “Pira-Pirasong Paraiso.”

The tension is undeniably strong on the rookie actor KD, as they’re surrounded by seasoned and brilliant thespians. But he’s learned to turn the pressure into motivation. Besides, he takes inspiration from Alexa, who impresses viewers just by her ability to paint emotions through her eyes. When told netizens’ reaction to her acting with her eyes in the series’ promotional photos, Alexa felt flattered and glad, saying that she actually tried to communicate her character’s intensity and rage through the eyes.

In the story, Alexa plays the investigative journalist Angela. She’s a fighter, determined to solve her hunches about the case of Diana (Charlie Dizon)’s missing siblings. It’s a cumbersome role, thus Alexa gives it all her energy – from preparations to actual takes. She makes sure to physically and mentally transform into Angela even in the littlest details like the songs she listens to or perfume she wears.

KD plays Elon, the rich guy who works as Angela’s apprentice. While he comes from a wealthy family, Elon remains level-headed but not without fighting back when needed.

Bagging their respective roles alone is enough of a milestone, but actually working together makes the experience much, much exciting. “Parang wala na akong hihilingin pa,” said Alexa, who got the project offer around the time of her birthday in February, hence it’s a birthday gift from God.

“Habang pini-pitch siya sa sa akin, I’m falling in love with it, the character. Pero, naka-cross ‘yung fingers ko, ‘Please mention KD.’ Tapos narinig ko ‘yung name ng guys, kasama din si KD. Sabi ko, ‘yes,’” she rehashed, loving the fact that she’s surrounded by her favorite people like Charlie, who became one of her closest friends after filming “Four Sister Before The Wedding.” She also gushed about working with the show’s veterans and creative team. “How can I not love this show? It’s everything I have ever wanted.”

It was Alexa who hinted about the project to KD, who was initially just proud of her teleserye comeback. Now, he feels even happier and honored to be working with his beloved loveteam partner, and some of the industry’s gems. “As a new gen artist, I’m super grateful that’s why I want to give my all talaga sa teleserye na ‘to.”

The Kapamilya loveteam relates to their characters in that they also have pieces of dreams that they’re trying to complete. Alexa shared that she’s working on stability. “Ang mahal kasi maging tao,” she quipped. She wants to make sure that her family will be taken care of. As for KD, the goal is to put up his own business with his family’s help.
