She may have only been in the entertainment scene for five years, but Charlie Dizon has already showcased her caliber as an actress. Ever since beginning her career in 2018, she’s able to prove her versatility through her movie and television stints, including her award-winning performance in the multi-awarded 2020 flick “Fangirl.”

And this year, she’s about to astound us in her another sure-fire portrayal in the upcoming afternoon soap opera Pira-Pirasong Paraiso as the fiery Diana Paraiso-Lamadrid, who’s in pursuit of finding her estranged sisters. But before we get to witness the journey of her character, let us look back first on the brilliant performances of Charlie in the past years in this edition of Kapamilya Spotlight!

She first exhibited her extensive dramatic chops in her breakthrough role in the 2018 fantasy series Bagani, wherein she played the role of Marikit, a young pirate from the Farm Region.

It was on that same year when she scored her first-ever Ipaglaban Mo gig through its “Kakampi” episode, which was top-billed by Maris Racal and Mary Joy Apostol.

Charlie then had her Maalaala Mo Kaya debut in 2019, as she took on the role of Apple in the “Choir” episode, the third-wheel in the love story of the main characters played by Vivoree Esclito and CK Kieron. This was succeeded by her stint in the weekly fantasy drama Parasite Island, which further provided her the opportunity to further exhibit her impressive acting potential as she portrayed Princess Salvacion.

However, it was her appearance in the 2020 action-drama series A Soldier’s Heart was what catapulted her to popularity. Her scenes with her onscreen partner Nash Aguas as they played Isabel and Michael, indeed brought kilig to the viewers, as those were among the most-watched clips from the series that were uploaded on YouTube.

While that fateful year filled the lives of many of us with despair and uncertainties, it was quite a different story for Charlie because it was when she snagged her first-ever Best Actress award through her notable performance in the Metro Manila Film Festival entry “Fangirl.” That sealed her place among the Kapamilya hotshots and brought her a slew of projects in the coming years.

By 2021, she was given her first starring role in MMK via the “Planner” episode, which she headlined opposite Jameson Blake. She portrayed letter sender Jobelle Fernandez, whose genuine love for her longtime boyfriend was put to the ultimate test.

She was then tapped to headline the primetime series Viral Scandal as Rica Sicat, a budding architecture apprentice whose life turned upside down after getting embroiled in a turmoil due to a controversial viral video.

In 2022, she compelled us with her depiction of Raquel Panganiban in the MMK episode “Singsing”, which chronicled the love story of an overseas Filipino worker (OFW) that abruptly ended after her fiancé Ralph, played by Kiko Estrada, unfortunately succumbed to coronavirus. Not long after, she once again astonished us with her portrayal of Joan Ronduen in the “Lumpiang Shanghai”, which tackled mental health.

Charlie also starred in two iWantTFC original series, namely, “Touch Screen” (2019), an anthology that highlights the way technology impacts the modern world, and “My Sunset Girl” (2021), which follows the eccentric life of her character Ciara, as well as her blooming relationship with Lucas, made complicated by a disease.

And ever since the full trailer was broadcast recently, many have been waiting to see her slay our afternoons as the ferocious Diana Paraiso-Lamadrid in the forthcoming series Pira-Pirasong Paraiso.

Pira-Pirasong Paraiso serves as ABS-CBN’s much-awaited return to afternoon prime and its first collaboration with TV5, which will premiere on July 25 at 3PM and will also have Saturday episodes at 2:30PM. You may catch it on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z and TV5.
