From showing off his compelling dramatic chops in the teleseryes and movies he starred in in the previous years, ultimate heartthrob Piolo Pascual is definitely back, but this time to swoon and make us laugh in the much-awaited “sweet-com” entitled “My Papa Pi”.
Over the weekend, we finally got a glimpse of its premise after Star Creatives Television production unit released its trailer. The weekly romance-comedy series revolves around the life of twin brothers Pipoy (Piolo) and Popoy (Pepe Herrera) and the people in their simple yet loving neighborhood called Mapag-asa Street.
And on Wednesday, March 9, we were taken to their exclusive script reading session, wherein we’re able to witness how they indeed have such a happy and energetic set! It was spearheaded by blockbuster director Cathy Garcia-Molina, who imparted how she “easily fell in love” with the idea of Piolo and Pepe being twins because of how they look really alike.
The three leads then introduced their respective characters one-by-one, with Piolo and Pepe almost sharing the same full name – Policarpio Papa – except for the latter having the suffix “Jr.”. Besides, they are co-owners of the famous “tumbungan” in their community called “One More Tumbong”, which helps Pipoy in raising his daughter Mikay (Allyson McBride).
If Pipoy is tagged the “Papa ng Mapag-asa” and Popoy is the “Tumbong Master”, Pia Wurtzbach’s character Teresa “Tere” Salonga, who would be the gorgeous lady in the middle of their love triangle, is the “Undin with a Heart”.
Although they are the headliners of this sitcom, Direk Cathy implied that rest of the cast are going to have significant role in the truly refreshing and amusing narrative. She stated, “Hindi lang naman si Piolo at si Pepe at si Pia ang bida rito, but the entire community – the hopefuls. So, they’re as important as them. It’s going to be entertaining for all of you.”
Joining the three P’s in “My Papa Pi” are Hyubs Azarcon, Alora Sasam, Joross Gamboa, Katya Santos, Daisy “Madam Inutz” Lopez, Allyson McBride, Anthony Jennings, Daniela Stranner, Frenchie Dy, Quincy Villanueva, and a lot more.
The Kapamilya “sweet-com” is slated to air every Saturday at 7PM, beginning March 19, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, iWantTFC, and TFC.
