Kim Molina and Jerald Napoles have been together for almost nine years. And in this episode of Magandang Buhay The Podcast, they look back at how their love story began.

As the story goes, the two met when they were cast as lead actors in the musical play “Rak of Aegis.” It wasn’t a case of love at first sight since they were then focused on their careers and they thought romance would be just a distraction. Their love story, if anything, was unexpected.

In a re-enactment challenge, Kim recalled feeling nervous as she arrived at the theater. Then, Jerald saw her and introduced himself. Kakai Bautista, who witnessed the little meet-cute, waited for Jerald to leave and warned Kim: “Layuan mo ‘yun, ah!”

“Kasi pinapakita niya na, ‘Delikado! Huwag kang lalapit. Ka-love team mo ‘yan diyan pero hanggang do’n lang, nak, ha?’” Kim revealed.

The warning didn’t work, though. Kim, whose original crush was their co-star Poppert Bernadas, admired Jerald during his performance in one of their rehearsals. So, she told him, “Crush kita ngayon. Pero ngayon lang ha?” Jerald took it seriously and their co-stars began to ship their love team.

Their first four years of dating weren’t that smooth. They broke up several times because they would constantly need space. At the time, they were unsure how to juggle the relationship and their blossoming careers in theater. But every time they break up, they would eventually realize that they still want to be together.

On both happy and thorny days, Kim and Jerald support each other. He is her dance and acting coach, while she helps him vocally. And if there’s one thing they are grateful for one another, Kim said it would be her boyfriend’s naturally loving and caring manner. Living together during the pandemic allowed her to witness his big-heartedness toward his friends, family, and especially his mom.

In turn, Jerald thanks Kim for being so understanding, which is the greatest factor that kept them together through the years. It was she who taught him that ego has no place in a relationship.
