Celebrating his birthday in Magandang Buhay, Ogie Alcasid reflects on his career and meaningful friendships found as a Kapamilya.

Ogie’s It’s Showtime co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Ryan Bang were also present to share about their bond on- and off-Its Showtime studio.

Dubbed as the newest comedic duo, Vhong and Ogie, who were also partners in last year’s It’s Showtime “Magpasikat” anniversary presentation, are symbolic of teamwork and passion. Well, even punchlines require camaraderie. They also foster their bond through basketball games with their It’s Showtime family.

Watching the banter, Regine Velasquez thanked Vhong for taking care of her husband in It’s Showtime. She said joining the noontime show was just Ogie’s dream.

Ryan also brought loads of laughter to the episode, talking about how love for golf brought him and Ogie closer. It’s Showtime’s ‘oppa’ revealed the activities and bonding moments that prove their tight relationship. Be sure to check out Ryan’s hilarious stories in the podcast episode!

Ogie and Regine went on to debunk the issues surrounding their marriage. Regine mused on their relationship, saying she’s fallen even more in love with her husband amid the pandemic. She realized, “It is wonderful to be married, provided that you’re married to the right person.” She recalled how much they missed each other while they were apart due to a series of shows abroad. Regine got sick at that time but Ogie made sure to make her feel loved despite their distance. Even Vhong and Ryan would vouch for the couple’s solid relationship.

Now in the mood to reflect, Ogie realized everything happens for a reason. He met Regine, they fell in love. He moved to ABS-CBN. Everything fell into place despite his uncertainties.

Regine butted in to share there was a time Ogie battled self-doubt, when he questioned his relevance in the industry. It broke her heart because she is his biggest fan. She would tell him, “Hon, I listen to your music. I will listen to your songs forever. I will be your audience forever. Kahit anong joke na ibitaw mo, ako yung tatawa mo. Ako parati ‘yung nandu’n kasi ako ‘yung number one fan.”

She also told him in this episode, “I’m very proud of you, honey. Sa mata ko, never nawalan ng ningning ang iyong bituin. Sa mata ko, laging maningning ang iyong bituin. I’m sure honey tuwang tuwa si daddy sa langit kasama ng tatay ko.”

Ogie reminisced some more and felt as if he has come full circle. It made him miss his dad, his biggest supporter while he was just starting in the industry, those days when he had no audience to listen to his music, “Si Daddy ‘yung naniwala sa akin simula’t sapul kaya nami-miss ko siya.”
