Why McCoy de Leon will never forget Maalaala Mo Kaya

McCoy de Leon is one of the many celebrities who are saddened by Maalaala Mo Kaya's slated farewell. At the same time, he is honored and grateful to have played a part in the show’s successful 31 years on air.

One of McCoy’s earliest appearances in the show had him portray the life of a fisherman who conquered the threat of an illness that plagued his family. Looking back, he said the set felt like home and he was able to fully immerse in the life of a fisherman, “’Yun ang masarap sa MMK talaga kasi ‘yung naranasan nila, ma-e-experience mo. In 5 taping days lang, maa-appreciate mo ‘yung life.”

“Meron pa ngang time na nagkakasugat-sugat na ako sa sobrang init. Tapos may mga crying scenes na dapat ibigay. Sobrang nakakapagod pero ‘pag napanood mo, sobrang worth it,” he reminisced.

MMK shaped him as an actor as his every portrayal pushes him out of his comfort zone. And with all the challenges and lessons that came with every episode he’s been part of, McCoy will always be grateful.

Along with McCoy and all the other stars, letter senders, and fans who have been with MMK in the past three decades, we will never forget the show and how it made us feel.

Don’t miss the finale episode of MMK “Scarlet Women this December 10.
