New breed of singers proudly from It’s Showtime’s Tawag Ng Tanghalan joined Karylle and Yael Yuzon for a free Sunday night jamming on the 4th episode of It’s Sharetime online benefit show.
Best part? All performances were dedicated to Kapamilyas inspiring them to participate in ABS-CBN and ABS-CBN Foundation’s “Tulong-Tulong Sa Pag-Ahon: Isang Daan sa Pagtutulungan” campaign that aims to help in the recovery of Typhoon Odette victims. The previous shows accumulated funds for food, clean water, and hygiene kits while the current phase targets to provide home repair kits for families affected by the calamity.
Karylle and Yael welcomed netizens into the hangout ‘sesh’ by performing “Kababaihan,” in celebration of Women’s Month. Karylle wrote the song for her last It’s Showtime Magpasikat performance with Kim Chiu and Amy Perez where they emerged as champions.
Songwriting is a treasured activity for the couple. During the pandemic when gigs were halted and later on transitioned to online streaming apps, Yael was able to write 18 new songs. Thus, he wants to encourage other musicians to keep going and use the waiting period (until face-to-face gigs are back in full swing) to fuel creativity.
“I-encourage ko lang ‘yung mga musicians diyan na kumakanta tapos naggigitara, o kahit nga hindi ka tumutugtog ng instrument, maybe it’s a nice idea ngayon na parang patapos na ‘yung pandemic, baka magandang magsulat ka rin ng mga songs. If you have the talent para kumanta, baka magandang lagpasan mo pa ‘yun by sharing more than your voice but also your soul and your heart,” expressed Yael.
The Spongecola frontman then performed one of the 18 songs he wrote during lockdown, titled “Kung Ako Ang Pumiling Tapusin Ito,” which is taken from the perspective of those who left the relationship, the “perceived villains” as he put it.
Besides music, the couple has found their new shared passion in fitness. She’s more into dancing while he goes running. Sometimes, Yael, the solid ‘rakista,’ joins in his wife’s dance sessions. “If you’re given free time, might as well celebrate it by doing something you’ve never done before,” he said.
After the couple’s song number, TNT graduates jumped aboard to serenade Kapamilyas and encourage them to donate via live streaming app Kumu and other platforms.
Netizens got front-row seats to the concert-like performances of JM Dela Cerna, Shan Dela Vega, Niel Murillo, Lorraine Galvez, Luis Gragera, Wincel Mae Portugal, Adrian Manibale and Vanessa Celestial.
The former TNT contenders and now Polaris artists belted out some of the songs that were part of their TNT journey including JM’s rendition of “Imagine” and Adrian’s “Leaves.”
