It was last July 1 when ABS-CBN and GMA finally shattered their so-called “network war” that spanned decades, after the latter – in a really unforeseen yet delighting turn of events – provided It’s Showtime an extension of their home by allowing its broadcast through its sister channel GTV at its noontime slot.
And since then, what used to be impossible has eventually become possible as a few Kapuso stars have already graced the program and even showed the madlang people what they’ve got through their remarkable production numbers. And in this episode of Kapamilya Toplist, let us look back on the unforgettable appearances of GMA artists on the well-loved noontime program!
Rodjun Cruz, Rayver Cruz, Pokwang, Barbie Forteza
Just on the very first day of It’s Showtime on GTV, viewers were indeed treated to a huge and spectacular opening number featuring the gregarious hosts, Kapamilya stars and a few celebrities from the Kapuso network. Apart from performing onstage together, the hosts also gave brothers Rodjun and Rayver Cruz, Pokwang, and Barbie Forteza the opportunity to exclaim the show’s trademark greeting “What’s up, madlang people!” with all their might. Sanya Lopez, Christian Bautista, and Mark Bautista partook in the party, too!
Julie Ann San Jose
Two weeks later, it was the Asia’s Limitless Star turn to entertain the Kapamilya and Kapuso audiences by performing the popular Korean pop hit “Cupid” by Fifty Fifty alongside the show’s very own girl group Baby Dolls. She also joined the hosts in the RamPanalo segment.
And before July ended, it was announced that Julie Ann is officially going to be a special guest hurado of Tawag ng Tanghalan. On her first day, she actually met her former childhood competitor, whose name is also Julie, in the 90s singing contest “Birit Bulilit.”
Sanya Lopez
Less than a month after her inaugural appearance on the noontime program for its GTV debut, GMA’s “First Lady of Primetime” immediately had her comeback. She heated up the stage with her sultry dance number that made us love her harder.
The sexy actress expressed how happy she was to be back and, at the same time, impressed the hosts with how she perfectly sang the It’s Showtime anthem. She also wishes to have a dance showdown with Vice Ganda and Anne Curtis. Of course, they didn’t let her simply leave without her doing the “Mini Miss U Challenge” and joining them in the RamPanalo segment.
Ken Chan
We certainly know how a talented actor he is, but Ken further made us fall for him when he danced to Jungkook of BTS’ trending track “Seven.” He was interviewed afterwards by the hosts, wherein he confessed that he actually looks forward to work with Chinita Princess Kim Chiu, who’s also a proud Filipino-Chinese like him. Ken’s exposure was extended as he also joined them in the RamPanalo segment.
Bianca Umali
As It’s Showtime marked their first month on GTV, they celebrated it with a fierce dance number from the Kapuso actress, which truly exposed her “dangerous woman” facet.
Bianca conveyed her excitement and nervousness towards her Kapamilya stage debut, while the hosts, especially Vice, heaped praises to her mesmerizing splendor and stupefying dance prowess.
Jasmine Curtis Smith
Anne Curtis was indeed a picture of a proud ate when her younger sister Jasmine commenced the August 5 episode of It’s Showtime through a Barbie-inspired opening number alongside Baby Dolls.
It was revealed that it had been 13 years already since the last time she set her foot on the stage, making her an OG It’s Showtime baby. They reminisced about the fun “Ole! Ole!” production number that she used to do with her ate more than a decade ago, as well as expressed their wish to see them together again in another performance. The hosts also had her do the “Mini Miss U Challenge” and join them in RamPanalo.
Mark Bautista
Avid Kapamilya viewers would know that he used to be one of the biggest heartthrobs of ABS-CBN in the mid-2000s, endearing us not only with his good looks, but with his swooning voice, too! And just last July 1, he was among the Kapuso artists who performed in the GTV debut of It’s Showtime, singing a duet with his former fellow ASAP Champions Erik Santos. He also served as a special guest hurado in the grand finals of TNT Duets also held that same day.
And in mid-August, it was officially announced that Mark would continue taking on the role in the seventh edition of Tawag ng Tanghalan. He expressed his excitement towards this stint and looked back on his experience as a kontesero himself before fame. When asked what kind of judge he would be, he said that he actually doesn’t care much about the technicalities as long as the performance is able to touch his heart.
Andrea Torres
The It’s Showtime stage was once again set on fire as Andrea delivered a totally fiery performance oozing with sexiness.
In her interview with the hosts, the actress revealed that it was actually not her first time to set her foot on ABS-CBN as she used to go there when she was younger. She also heeded to their request to do an energetic and sultry version of the “Mini Miss U” challenge.
Ysabel Ortega
Another former Kapamilya who had the chance to grace It’s Showtime with her presence is young actress Ysabel Ortega, who captivated us not only with her stunning beauty, but with her dancing chops, too. She opened the August 18 episode with an invigorating dance number with Baby Dolls and Hashtags.
During her interview with the hosts, it was revealed that she and Ryan Bang have known each since 2009 because they used to study in the same high school. Thus, when asked to whom she wants to work with, it’s not surprising that she mentioned him. Ryan also imparted that her mom, former actress Michelle Ortega, and her dad have taken good care of him, especially during the pandemic, since they are neighbors. Being her friend and kuya, he conveyed his all-out support to her endeavors.
Michael V and Manilyn Reynes
The madlang people were indeed surprised and delighted when Michael V and Manilyn Reynes made a surprise guest appearance on the noontime program for the special birthday production number of their good friend Ogie Alcasid, who’s one of its hosts. Ogie and Manilyn sang “Pangako,” which both of them wrote decades ago, while he and Michael performed his classic hit “Bakit Ngayon Ka Lang.”
After their heartwarming duets, the terrific trio gave us a glimpse of their over three decade-friendship, which started when they were all under the film production company OctoArts. Michael and Manilyn also reminisced about their fondest memories with the OPM icon, as well as conveyed their special birthday messages for him.
Miguel Tanfelix
The Kapuso actor indeed won our hearts when he grooved to K-pop group Enyphen’s “Bite Me” for the opening number of the August 26 episode of the show.
In his interview with the hosts, the actor conveyed how happy and thrilled he was about the gig, as well as how he’s been dreaming to have a dance collab with Vhong Navarro. The host echoed it by saying how impressed he was of Miguel’s performance, as well as how he’s also looking forward to share the stage with him, too!
