Tyang Amy Perez is one timeless fixture on daytime TV viewing for decades, and we can currently see her as one of the lively, gregarious hosts of It’s Showtime.

With It’s Showtime as her latest hosting stint, Tyang Amy has been an emcee for a number of Kapamilya noontime shows through the years—from Kalatog Pinggan in 1987, the Sunday musical variety show Sa Linggo NAPO Sila from 1990-1995 and its daily spinoff Isang Linggo NAPO Sila from 1995-1998. By 1998, ABS-CBN introduced its centerpiece noontime show, Magandang Tanghali Bayan (MTB) that brought fun and laughter, plus exciting games and prizes to viewers and Amy was one of the hosts, together with Willie Revillame, John Estrada, Randy Santiago, Christine Jacob, and Vanessa del Bianco, among others. But one of her co-hosts stood out not only as her perfect partner in humorous spiels and rip-roaring game segments, such as “Pera O Bayong”, but also became her forever friend. He is the superb comedian-TV host Roderick Paulate.

Viewers loved their onscreen partnership through the years, as they certainly complemented each other when they went live on air with great chemistry and teamwork. After their stint on MTB, they would go on to bring their beloved tandem to game shows, taking over the hosting reins of the well-loved The Singing Bee in 2013.

When the curtains fell on The Singing Bee in 2015, the pair went separate ways professionally, with Roderick assuming a new role as an elected councilor in Quezon City, while Amy remained as a popular, versatile host in entertainment and current affairs programs, both on radio and TV.

Avid viewers certainly miss their lively, animated, and effective on-cam delivery that surely brightened up their days. Off-cam, they are close friends who would always be there for each other through thick and thin, which is quite evident in the photos in this gallery.

We surely hope to see them onscreen together very soon.
