For the umpteenth time, ABS-CBN’s very own ‘dyosa’ Anne Curtis was able to prove time once again that she is indeed the queen of buwis-buhay as she, along with her teammates Ogie Alcasid and Ryan Bang conveyed their ever-relevant message of healing through their inspiring and astonishing spectacle on the third day of Magpasikat 2023 of It’s Showtime.
The Team Anne-Ryan-Ogie production commenced with a montage of good news that the world has received recently, as well as screenshots of comments from netizens about how these signify that the world is indeed healing. The question “Or is it?” was then flashed on the screen along with a static sound.
Anne, Ryan, and Ogie were then seen standing on a platform that doubled as an LED screen, having their respective spotlights and the words “healing your heart” emblazoned on the floor, and singing altogether an original composition about “healing,” which was later revealed to be composed by the OPM icon.
It was Ryan who initially had his solo showcase, which was a dance interpretation of the classic song “Stand By Me,” that symbolizes his healing through loving. Along with a female dancer, they did their routines on the revolving platform to show the repeating cycle that Ryan went through when it comes to love before finally finding his “the one.”
Next was Ogie, who wowed everyone with how he bravely healed his fear of heights by trusting himself and the people that supported him during his exhibition. He flawlessly did stunts mid-air while being held by a harness and even put himself upside down against a makeshift wall onstage – much to the delight of the spectators. He was joined by his fellow Tawag ng Tanghalan hurados Jed Madela, Nyoy Volante, and Dingdong Avanzado as they performed the Eraserheads hit “Huwag Kang Matakot.”
Last, but definitely not the least, is Anne, who attested time and time again that she’s indeed a frontrunner when it comes to daring and jaw-dropping acts on It’s Showtime as she performed a breathtaking aerial spiral act. She did this while her goddaughter and Batang Cute-po Imogen Cantong lulled us with her rendition of Coldplay’s “Fix You.”
As she descended from the spiral, her younger sister Jasmine Curtis-Smith surprised everyone with her entrance and took her turn to the spiral as Anne watched her from the revolving platform. Anne returned to the spiral again to join Jasmine and they ended the set by sharing a warm embrace. This seemingly depicted Anne’s healing from her anxieties, setbacks, and challenges through believing in herself.
Team Anne-Ryan-Ogie’s spectacle capped off with the three hosts reuniting onstage to continue singing the song they just performed in the opening. They were eventually joined by the rest of their ensemble, with their co-hosts and the madlang people making the moment extra powerful by singing along, clapping their hands, and stomping their feet with them.
Anne’s entry for Magpasikat 2023 it didn’t fall short in providing thrill to the spectators. Aside from showing off, time and time again, her unmistakable flair and boldness in executing daring stunts, she’s also able to unleash the hidden prowess of and the inner daredevil in her teammates.
Who would have thought that Ryan could pull off a poignant interpretative dance while on a moving platform? Who would have thought that Ogie could beat his acrophobia and do acrobatics mid-air while singing at the same time? And who would have thought that Anne could share the stage – err, aerial spiral pole – with her beloved younger sister Jasmine and touch us with that stunning performance?
Team Anne-Ryan-Ogie indeed succeeded in their goal of relaying the message of healing through their production, from the symbolisms they presented to the original song that they performed, which encourages us to pray for the healing of the world and of each other because that’s all we really need it at present. We may be going through various challenges and problems in different aspects of our lives, but let’s not lose our hope and faith that everything will be alright in time and we will all completely heal.
