JM Yosures of Taguig City named Tawag Ng Tanghalan Season 4 Grand Champion

JM Yosures of Taguig City left the madlang people breathless with his impressive range and scintillating rendition of “Million Reasons,” “I’ll Never Love Again,” and “You and I” in his final medley of Lady Gaga songs, emerging as the Grand Champion of the Tawag Ng Tanghalan Season 4 Huling Tapatan on It’s Showtime last February 6.

JM bested Rachell Laylo of Lipa City, Batangas and Ayegee Parenes of Malaybalay City, Bukidnon in the top three of the Huling Tapatan with a combined hurado-text vote score 89%, to receive the Toym Imao-designed trophy.

JM won Php 1 million, a house and lot worth Php 2 million, a recording contract with Star Music, and a talent management contract with Star Magic. Rachell, meanwhile, took second place with a combined hurado-text vote score of 77.6% singing a medley of the Aegis hits ”Luha,” “Basang-Basa Sa Ulan,” and “Sayang Na Sayang,” bringing home Php 200,000 . Ayegee ended third with a combined hurado-text vote score of 73.1%, performing her medley of Rey Valera classics “Walang Kapalit,” “Kung Tayo’y Magkakalayo,” and “Kung Kailangan Mo Ako” bagging Php 100,000.

JM first brought the house down with his moving interpretation of The Animals’ “House of the Rising Sun,” which he dedicated to his estranged father, in the opening round that really stood out among the hurados, who praised him for his performance that really touched the madlang people.

Ayegee and Rachell, meanwhile, gave memorable, heartfelt renditions of Whitney Houston’s “All the Man That I Need” and Shirley Bassey’s “This is My Life,” respectively, in the first round.

Among the other “Huling Tapatan 4” finalists were Makki Lucino from Sorsogon, Emmar Cabilogan from Maasin City, Southern Leyte, and Nikole Kyle Bernido from Cagayan de Oro City,
