From being a stand-up comedian providing entertainment in comedy bars and in her television guestings, Vice Ganda has astoundingly skyrocketed into becoming one of the most famous and most influential personalities in the local entertainment scene, which started when she became part of It’s Showtime.
And through the years, she’s been using the platform bestowed to her not just to spread good vibes, but to also impart words of wisdom on different aspects of life and insights on various issues, to which a lot of madlang people can definitely relate to. Just in case you want to see or hear them again, we collated some in this episode of Kapamilya Update.
As she noticed how most contestants of Tawag ng Tanghalan regard their families as their primary motivation in joining the long-running competition or even making it big in life, the Unkabogable Star wondered why she hadn’t heard anyone say that they’re doing it for themselves. This prompted her to remind breadwinners that there’s also nothing wrong in putting themselves first before their loved ones.
“Kailangan mo munang tulungan ang sarili mo bago ka tumulong sa ibang tao. Hindi ka magkakaroon ng kapangyarihan na makatulong sa ibang tao kung ang sarili mo hindi mo natutulungan. Hindi mo sila mapapalakas kung ikaw ay mahina. Kaya let’s all start from ourselves, for ourselves,” she stated.
Vice also has a friendly reminder to young parents and those who want to become parents to prepare themselves for the huge responsibility it entails. They must make sure that they can provide a kid with adequate food and nourishment, proper education, and decent shelter – basically all their needs – before deciding to have or give birth to one.
As a TNT contestant mentioned the death of a loved one, Vice was reminded of an encounter she had with an unknown person, who asked her for advice regarding the dejection he/she felt after the demise of his/her grandpa who raised him/her. Rather than sulking at it, she told him/her to consider his death it as a gift.
The It’s Showtime host recounted telling the person, “Death, just like life, is a gift.
At kapag may nawala, may bagong dumarating.”
Sshe reminded that each of us would reach that point, just in different times and circumstances. Thus, she encouraged us to not be afraid of death and reminded us to make the most of every moment that we are still alive and use it to do good things.
Having profound experience when it comes to love, Vice shared nuggets of wisdom about it as well. She gave an inspiring message to people who are not chosen when it comes to love, especially by the people they admire. She also has advice to those who are searching for the right person yet they’re not taking their relationship or the person who genuinely loves them seriously. And in a past episode, she gave several situations on when are the right instances to end by comparing relationships to dining in a restaurant.
And in a recent episode of TNT, she and her co-hosts Kim Chiu and Amy Perez touched on the topic of surrendering in love, quizzing them and the madlang people, “Sa pag-ibig, kailan mo masasabi kung ‘rampa’ or ‘rampalit’?” and added, “Sa pag-ibig ba, magra-‘rampalit’ ka kapag nararamdaman mong ‘rampababa’ na ito? O ‘irarampa’ mo pa rin ang pag-ibig kahit ‘rampababa’ na ito?”
As for the Unkabogable Star, even though the love goes downhill, she will continue fighting for it because it’s not all the time that love is rainbows and butterflies. As how she put it, “love is not always a bed of roses, sometimes it’s a bed of thorns”.
“Ang pag-ibig, hindi lang sa tuwing kinikilig ka. Dahil may pag-ibig na dumidiretso at nagpapatuloy kahit wala nang nararamdaman. Nag-iiba lang siya ng lebel, pero pag-ibig pa rin siya,” she related, taking for example our parents or older couples, who are able to find and develop a different kind of love as times go by.
And lastly, Vice’s conversation with a member of the madlang people in an episode of RamPanalo arguably served as an eye-opener to everyone, especially those who romanticize poverty and let it stop them from pursuing their dreams. She encouraged the contestant to not make their plight an excuse for him to pass up the opportunity for him to finish his education if his parents can still support him.
She then attempted to change his mindset about poverty by correcting his statement that he’s okay and finds pleasure in the kind of life that his family has at present.
“Maling mentality na mahalin natin ang pagiging mahirap dahil hindi. Maraming pagkakataon sa buhay natin na hirap na hirap tayo dahil sa kondisyon ng ating pamumuhay. Kaya gagawa ka ng paraan para makatakas ka sa kahirapan na ‘yon,” she advised him.
