Idol Philippines Season 2 judge Moira Dela Torre’s hugot songs have never failed to hit us right in the feels, which were inspired by her painful and sad experiences in life. But during those times of trials and desolation, there are people who were there to give her company and help her get through – her beloved huge family!
In the past years, the multi-awarded singer-songwriter has been quite open with her personal life, allowing us to get to know her and her family. Her avid followers surely know that she’s a product of a broken family, as her parents separated when she was only three years old.
They lost communication with her biological father and only had the chance to speak with one another when she was 12, and have been best friends since then after talking for seven hours. She further opened up about her relationship with her once-estranged dad in a heartwarming Instagram post in 2018, wherein she recounted their bittersweet reunion after a decade of separation.
Her parents’ breakup and annulment might be painful to her before, but that also served as a blessing in disguise for them at the same time, as getting remarried with other people brought Moira the greatest gift she could ever have – a happy and loving family. She was nine when her Mommy Raquel and stepdad John gave birth to her younger sister J’mee, which was followed by their youngest Reese five years after.
In her Magandang Buhay interview in 2020, she described how she is as ate. She imparted that she’s not strict, yet she is very protective of her siblings.
As her mom and dad were able make amends with everything that happened to them in the past, her biological dad Mike and her stepdad John were able to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day in January 2019.
It was also in 2019 when the Queen of Hugot Songs had the rare opportunity to perform alongside her younger sisters J’mee and Reese in ASAP Natin ‘To, wherein they sang her rendition of the classic “You Are My Sunshine”. They did the same as well in her “Braver” Concert that same year.
And just like other families, hers isn’t only there through the good times, but also in the bad. As she goes through a rough patch in her life early this year, it’s her family who has been her shoulder to cry on and source of strength. She posted videos of her with her maternal side of the family, wherein they’re seen jamming to her songs and their other favorites.
