From playing supporting roles in the previous projects she starred in, Jane De Leon is set to astonish us with her highly anticipated portrayal of the iconic Pinay superhero Darna in the upcoming Mars Ravelo’s Darna.

But before we get to see her in action, let’s look back on some of her remarkable portrayals on television that seemingly prepared her in this challenging yet gratifying role in this Kapamilya Spotlight feature!

She had her acting debut in 2016 via the “Tikboyong” narrative of Wansapanataym, wherein she played Sassy, the love interest of the titular character portrayed by McCoy de Leon. The following year, she impressed us with her dramatic chops through her depiction of a sexually abused lady in the “Bayad” episode of Ipaglaban Mo and of Lauren Catapang, one of the gutsy Moonchasers in the KathNiel-starrer La Luna Sangre.

The 23-year-old actress then endeared us as Maggie Bartolome, the younger sister of Jericho Rosales’ character Lino Bartolome in the controversial primetime series Halik. In 2019, she was able to showcase her promising dramatic prowess anew in the “Dignidad” episode of Ipaglaban Mo, as she took on the role of rape victim Tere.

After playing bit roles in the previous Maalaala Mo Kaya episodes that she starred in, Jane finally scored the starring role in the “Medal” episode in 2020, which featured the inspiring life story of Pinay Olympic boxer Nesthy Petecio. Later that year, she once again appeared in a two-pronged episode of the long-running drama anthology that followed the journey of Dr. Israel Bactol, played by Arjo Atayde, who succumbed to COVID-19 virus while fulfilling his duties. She took on the role of his girlfriend Dra. Lerma Bhelle Iglesia.

And last year, Jane teased us on the exhilarating performance that we’re going to expect from her in Darna as she guested in FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano as the fierce Police Captain Natalia “Lia” Mante, who, from hunting down Cardo Dalisay (Coco Martin) and Task Force Agila, went on to become their ally.

With the variety of characters she portrayed on television, we believe that these prepared Jane for her most challenging and remarkable role she’s going to take on.
