Jane de Leon rocked our world the moment she appeared in her red costume, emulating the commanding beauty and strength of the iconic Pinoy superhero Darna. We can all agree that Darna exists within Jane. We can see her in the actress’ eyes, stance, charm, and martial arts bravado.

As a look back on the first season of Mars Ravelo’s Darna, Kapamilya Toplist rounded up the best scenes proving why Jane is the ‘chosen one.’

Her first official mission as a rescue officer put her on the cusp of her true destiny and Jane made sure it’ll exhilarate viewers. In that scene, her team rushed to find earthquake survivors but her abilities as a mortal weren’t enough. The magical white stone landed on her, signalling her much-awaited transformation as Darna.

Jane, in full costume, looked pretty fierce. Her physical beauty alone is mesmerizing, but her clean and accurate stunts, plus the special effects, made her first Darna moment extra perfect.

One of the most trending fight scenes from the series featured Narda’s transformation in the sight of her brother Ding (Zaijian Jaranilla) as she fought Hergis, who posed as Mang Klaudio (Joko Diaz).

More heart-stopping action came as Narda fully embarked on her journey as Babaeng Lumilipad. On her first public appearance as Darna years after Leonor (Iza Calzado)’s demise, the new Darna managed to save the people from a suicide bomber in a mall. The ‘Extras’ can mutate all they want but Darna won’t back down even from multiple enemies such as when Vince aka Clone Man (Neil Coleta) used his powers to escape the cops. Not only was Darna physically strong but she was sharp as well, evinced by her quick judgment to spot the real Vince.

Jane’s agility is one of her strengths as shown in the intense warehouse action where she managed to block a grenade to save the cops led by Brian (Joshua Garcia). And her smirk after that stunt spelled badass.

This modern version of Darna highlights her steel hard skin and cuff bracelet’s ability to deflect bullets, creating more cinematic visuals. The bullets ricocheted as she saved a young girl trapped in a dangerous shootout between the cops and a syndicate group. The goons attacked but, as we said, Darna will never be intimidated by enemies ganging up on her.

Showing just how powerful she can become without breaking her morals, Darna faced Hergis, the Martean who killed her mother Leonor, but opted to keep him alive because it’s not her thing to kill somebody asking for forgiveness. Instead, she unleashed her rage and grief by hitting the ground with her fist.

Things got more exciting when she finally collided with her archnemesis Valentina (Janella Salvador) and demolished the latter’s stance, enough to knock Valentina down. We know it isn’t the end for these two. Meanwhile, her fight against Heneral Borgo, who was then in his human form as Rex Vanguardia (Richard Quan) but hiding inside his spaceship, was a pure display of fierce determination and strength. Darna takes all her energy to attack the spaceship while evading Xandra (Kim Rodriguez)’s bullets.

The recent addition to her collection of enemies is Levitator or Eli (Enchong Dee), a photographer bullied for his father’s crime. Darna marched into the building where Levitator was spreading scare. After an intense build-up involving deflected bullets and objects suspended mid-air, Darna’s fight mode kicked in making the scene even better. She’s not yet done with Levitator, though, leaving us thrilled over their next face-off.
