It’s the time of the year again when kids and adults alike dress up as spooky creatures, fictional characters, or famous personalities. While others prefer elaborate ensembles that are based on foreign figures, there are still some who opt to go local by putting on costumes inspired by popular characters or mythical beings in the Philippines. And one of them is our very own iconic superheroine Darna.
sAs many of us know, she has been existing for around seven decades already, ever since she was created by the late brilliant komiks artist Mars Ravelo in 1950. Aside from seeing the portrayals of various actresses in television and big screen, which includes the currently airing Kapamilya primetime series Mars Ravelo’s Darna topbilled by Jane De Leon, we have also surely seen plenty of ladies out there channel the inner Darna in them by putting in her signature red and gold two-piece costume and winged headgear.
Just like our beloved Kapamilya netizens in this feature who brazenly embodied Darna for this year’s Halloween fete! Go through their adorable and stunning photos in this gallery that will certainly make you utter “awww” or “wow”.
Even though the ensemble tends to show a lot of skin, a number of parents apparently wanted their little girls to know Darna and be inspired by her story, courage, and good heart by dressing them up as her as they went trick-or-treating. Among them is Baby Keia Lavender, the firstborn of Cham Estrera-Magsaysay, who is such a huge fan of the TV series.
On Facebook, Mommy Cham shared a video of Keia portraying her ultimate favorite superheroine, which she captioned, “Keia is such a fan of the TV series Darna. She religiously watches it every night and it’s also the reason why she naps in the afternoon so that she’ll be allowed to watch it and can sleep a little late at night. It’s actually the first ever Filipino TV series she monitors and supports. We allowed her so that she’ll learn to speak Tagalog and to also support our network.”
She further revealed that it didn’t surprise them when Keia expressed how much she wanted to become Darna, and even “dictated all her moves here - from the lying down, the iconic Darna chant, flying, running, kicking, even the line “Ding ang bato”.
And not only the little ones delighted us as Darna, but the grown-ups, too! They confidently flexed their sexy physiques as they put on the iconic ensemble either just for fun or when they attended Halloween parties. One of them is Filipina-American phenomenal TikTok star and recording artist Bella Poarch.
For your nightly dose of action, kilig, and inspiration, never miss an episode of Mars Ravelo’s Darna, weeknights after TV Patrol on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z, iWantTFC, and TV5.
