Kwento Ng Pasko: “Can’t Buy Me Love” stars’ most unforgettable Christmastime

Christmastime is one event that leaves us with so much joy, love, and precious moments, however we choose to celebrate. For others, it means having the whole family gathered for Noche Buena while some look forward to their much-deserved holiday vacation. We all have different ‘kwento’ about Christmas, but all of which would boil down to memories that we will never forget.

In this video from ent.abs-cbn.com, the stars of the DonBelle series “Can’t Buy Me Love” share their pinakamagandang kwento ng Pasko.

For many of us, Christmastime is a reminder to be together with our family and appreciate the love we have in our lives. Darren Espanto is all-smiles as he recalls his first Christmas with his sister, “’Yung unang Pasko ko na meron akong baby sister na kasama. Hindi na ako mag-isang nag-a-unwrap ng presents under the Christmas tree.”

Karina Bautista takes pride with how their clan pulls no punches in their festive and extended Christmas celebration in Isabela province. “Laging nagpapalaro ‘yung Nanay ko noon. Nagbibigay siya ng wallets for kids tapos mga pa-premyo naman like baso at pitsel para sa mga matatanda. Tapos may bingo nights kami. And kahit wala sa amin ang marunong kumanta, December 20 pa lang may videoke na hanggang New Year na po ‘yun. Gano’n kami katagal mag-celebrate,” she narrates.

Truly, nothing beats the Christmas spirit in the province. Maris Racal remembers her family’s colorful celebration the first time she went home to Davao as an artista. It doubled as her homecoming party as well, “Sobrang happy lang ng lahat. Happy sila para sa akin at sabik din ako makita ‘yung family ko. ‘Pag naaalala ko ‘yung moment na ‘yun, nararamdaman ko pa rin ‘yung happiness.”

That’s why, as much as possible, Alora Sasam chooses to spend her holiday break with her family in Mindanao.

Putting up a Christmas tree is already exciting on its own, but a DIY one is a whole new level of memorable. Vivoree Eclito says her family didn’t have much before she entered showbiz, so they made do with an improvised Christmas tree. Her father would look for a real tree that they could use and the rest of the family members would come together to add decorations. “That means a lot to me, especially as a child kasi parang nagkakaroon din kami ng bond,” shares Vivoree.

For many Filipinos, Christmas time is primarily a family affair. For big clans like that of Shaina Magdayao, the best way to celebrate is by having reunions. She always looks forward to bonding with her siblings and nieces and nephews during the holiday season.

Shanaia Gomez’s favorite Christmas memory is celebrating with her family in Canada, which was also her first time to experience snow. Albie Casino’s ultimate kwento ng Pasko is also set in another country with chilly temperature, the United States, where he celebrated with his whole family in 2019.

Christmas is exciting when you are a kid, but even more so when you are a mom. Ina Raymundo finds it heartwarming watching her kids open their presents on Christmas morning, “Lahat sila masaya tapos ang kalat-kalat ng bahay, punom-puno ng Christmas wrappers. Lately, we don’t even use Christmas wrappers anymore. They just use recycled boxes, newspapers, so mas lalong magulo ‘yung itsura niya. But it’s a beautiful Christmas mess.”

Chie Filomeno has had a fruitful 2023 as she finally signed her first exclusive contract with ABS-CBN, and this gives her more reasons to be happy and grateful this Christmas.
