In the beginning of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, Edwin (Ping Medina) was depicted as a lazy guy scamming people by begging for cash. However, as his family’s impoverished situation went from bad to worse, he was forced to further compromise his morals by engaging in dangerous activities like drugs and killing to earn money.

Some people argue that poverty is the cause of all evil. A hungry man is an angry man they say. That sounds true for Edwin. Watch how he turned completely evil via this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from the trending teleserye.

Edwin and his father Marsing (Pen Medina) were professional beggars with hilarious antics. He used to fake his disability, limping on a crutch while asking for alms. “Maawa na kayo sa tamad,” he would tell churchgoers.

Barring the moral aspect of his chosen ‘job’, Edwin was an affectionate man at home. He used to make his parents smile with his jokes and protect his sister Mokang (Lovi Poe). He even helped in preparing for Mokang’s debut party by looking for a free sound system, and elicited laughter by making a funeral-inspired tarpaulin for her.

However, in a bid to survive, Edwin got involved with Kidlat (Smugglaz) and Teban (Bassilyo)’s group that uses threats and violence to frighten people who can’t pay them back. To compensate for his debt, he was forced to join the gang and, of course, play their kind of game, which is dangerous and evil.

Edwin robbed and knocked a student as part of his initiation. After proving his ability and loyalty, he then joined the group in robbing Roda (Joel Lamangan)’s house, leaving the victim with stab wounds. Just when we thought Edwin’s bad karma was coming after Roda survived the coma, it was Tanggol (Coco Martin) who's been accused of the crime.

From stealing and killing, he convinced his teammates to enter the world of illegal drugs. Kidlat was hesitant at first, but Edwin assured them that he knows the ins and outs of drug selling in Quiapo. He knows the right people to turn to. Because of his contribution to the group, Edwin got arrogant that insisted to become the group’s leader. His suggestion didn’t sit well with Kidlat, who warned him to know his place. After all, he was just a stray guy whom they took in so he can pay his debt. However, Edwin is determined to prove that he can supervise their transactions and become a notorious, big-time criminal.
