FPJ’s Batang Quiapo is truly living up to its promise to serve nonstop surprises for its viewers. Nobody saw at the beginning that Mokang (Lovi Poe)’s character would marry Ramon (Christopher de Leon), the biological father of Tanggol (Coco Martin), and now we can't wait to see what happens next. That’s the thing about a teleserye’s unpredictability, it keeps us hooked episode after episode.

As experienced thespians, Christopher and Lovi manage to create believable scenes, with heart-racing chemistry, out of the trope they’re given. Re-watch their scenes together via this Kapamilya Toplist video.

In the story, Ramon was mesmerized by Mokang's sultry dance number in a bar where she used to work. After the performance, he caught her getting dragged by one of the patrons and her huge admirer Congressman Sevilla (Jong Cuenca) out of the cub to sleep with him for a night. Ramon entered the scene and became Mokang’s savior. She didn’t know his heroic save would trap her in bigger trouble.

Using his influence, he was able to invite Mokang as a special guest to his birthday celebration. And taking advantage of her desperation to raise funds for her father’s operation, Ramon gave Mokang an irresistible offer. He asked her to marry him, ignoring her sentiments about wanting to marry only the man she genuinely loves and focus on her family’s needs instead of entering a dangerous and loveless relationship.

However, due to her financial burdens, Mokang was forced to sell her soul to Ramon. She trades her dignity for the money she desperately needs for Marsing (Pen Medina)’s operation. She agreed to join Ramon for dinner, coming to his place in a luscious black dress. Smitten, Ramon handed her a beautiful bouquet.

During their conversation, Ramon explained that he didn’t intend to offend Mokang, and insisted that he likes her for real. At that point, Mokang was beginning to realize her feelings for Tanggol, but at the same time, she felt like giving in to Ramon’s offer was the only option.

Their wedding came, and it was interestingly romantic despite the bomb explosion at the end courtesy of Olga (Irma Adlawan). Next came the honeymoon. What we love about Christopher’s portrayal is that makes Ramon look genuinely in love despite, as we all know, the character's evil alter-ego. The passion and authenticity in his eyes, they’re enough to slowly soften Mokang’s heart and make her believe that he actually wants to give her nothing but a good life. She’s being treated so well. Beyond the lavish gifts and the promise to send her to school again (one of her biggest goals), Mokang feels respected as a woman and as a wife. She cried when Ramon decided to entrust one of his companies to her and remarked that she's capable and smart. It’s as if Ramon is making her believe again in herself and her dreams.

They introduced each other into their world. In one scene, Ramon broadened Mokang’s knowledge about social drinking, while she taught him how to eat with bare hands.

The two created lovely chemistry in their romantic beach scenes where they made love under the sunset. And because they weren’t able to enjoy their wedding reception due to threats to their safety, they thought of recreating the tradition of sipping champagne with arms intertwined. They shared a kiss, again serving up crazy electrifying chemistry.

While Mokang is in paradise, Tanggol suffers in prison. When will they cross paths again?

Don’t miss an episode of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo, weeknights, on Kapamilya Channel, Kapamilya Online Live, TV5, and A2Z.
