When you put two brilliant veterans together in scenes like these, their combined star power lights up the entire screen!
From the moment Tindeng (Charo Santos), and her best friend Noy (Lou Veloso), started working as house helpers at the Caballero mansion, fans couldn't help but notice the potential love angle brewing between her and the Caballero patriarch, Don Facundo (Jaime Fabregas). Viewers are now shipping them as FacunDeng. Let’s take a look back at their scenes in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo” that showcase their unexpected chemistry.
At first, Facundo found their new helper annoying, evident when she accidentally entered his room to bring him coffee while he was on the phone with a lawyer. During this, she overheard that he was planning to help some prisoners get released from jail.
Tindeng admitted that she accidentally overheard part of Facundo's conversation with the lawyer, hoping to bring up her request for help with her grandson Tanggol (Coco Martin), who was in jail at the time. But she fell silent, intimidated by Facundo's demeanor. Despite this, he appreciated her honesty.
Facundo's initial irritation quickly shifted to kindness when his wife, Bettina (Tessie Tomas), accused Tindeng of stealing her jewelry. He stepped in to defend Tindeng, knowing the accusations were false after discovering Bettina's accessories scattered among her own belongings. He didn't hesitate to reprimand Bettina for her unjust actions and take Tindeng’s side.
This was followed by a charming moment where FacunDeng exchanged playful banter. He humorously requested a pitcher of peace and quiet, teasing about his wife's loud mouth getting on his nerves. Tindeng responded with a smile, saying she would gladly fetch it for him. For the first time, the old man smiled back at her. He also expressed admiration for her strength in distancing herself from a family that had hurt her, and starting anew. It seemed they had something in common that could allow them to relate to each other; they just need to delve deeper and get to know each other better.
Their chemistry truly sparked in a scene where Facundo noticed Tindeng leaving the mansion and curiously asked where she was headed. When she mentioned she was off to the market, he surprised her by offering a ride—and insisted on joining her. Rather than simply dropping her off, he accompanied her as she shopped.
As they strolled through the market, they took the opportunity to get to know each other better, each discovering and appreciating the other's good qualities. Facundo even expressed his gratitude to Tindeng for letting him tag along, admitting how much he missed visiting the market himself. To top it off, he made sure his men safely escorted her back to the mansion, his lingering gazes making her feel a bit shy. The connection between them was undeniable, as if friendship was beginning to blossom.
Another shared value that bonded them was their deep love for their respective grandchildren. In a moment of grief and despair, when Facundo lost his grandson Pablo (Elijah Canlas) and faced the heartbreak of his beloved granddaughter Katherine being forced to marry a man she didn’t love, David (McCoy de Leon), it was Tindeng who offered him the comfort he desperately needed. In a scene brimming with genuine emotion, Facundo was deeply touched by Tindeng’s words, reminding him that while our loved ones may no longer be with us, their memories remain with us forever.
Is FacunDeng truly becoming real? But what will happen when the truth comes out—that Tindeng’s grandson, Tanggol, was the one responsible for the death of Facundo’s grandson, Pablo, in a spiralling cycle of revenge?
