10 scenes of Enteng as one of Tanggol’s best friends in “FPJ’s Batang Quiapo”

In friendship, the old ones are utterly irreplaceable. Tanggol (Coco Martin)'s ‘tropa’ is proof, tracing the foundations of their solid brotherhood to their little shenanigans as kids. In his squad, he has Enteng (Jojit Lorenzo), the one with a quirky combination of humor and wisdom.

Don’t be fooled by his kooky hairstyle and happy-go-lucky attitude, as this guy is dependable in many ways. He’s Tanggol’s go-to person for sage pieces of advice. Let him show you what true friendship means via this Kapamilya Toplist of scenes from FPJ’s Batang Quiapo.

Enteng understood the assignment when Tanggol needed a place for himself and street kids Tolits (Aaron “Yorme” Sunga) and Tala (Erin Espiritu). He offered his house, however small. He even urged Tanggol to bring his Lola Tindeng (Charo Santos) with him. When Tanggol gave him money as sort of his rental fee, Enteng refused, “Huwag na. Parang magkakapatid na tayo dito.”

He has witnessed Tanggol’s special feelings for Mokang (Lovi Poe) grew from when they were kids until the present time. The “asaran” with old friends who’ve known you to the core, it hits different when you are adults. It would feel happy and nostalgic as if saying nothing has changed. That’s the vibe we get from Tanggol and his friends whenever they make fun of his feelings for Mokang.

As the team’s source of advice, Enteng suggested that Tanggol serenades Mokang. He convinced him to look for a decent job to make him worthy of the woman’s heart, asserting through his savage yet encouraging real talk that love is not a fairy tale for two poor people.

Tanggol knows he can count on his friends, who are essentially his family. And family means supporting each other all the way. Without reservation, Enteng accompanied Tanggol at the club where Mokang works as an entertainer. He promised to watch over his friend’s temper, but not to hold back when Tanggol needs rescue, either.

Tanggol’s life requires a buddy who would fight side-by-side with him, and he has found this in Enteng, as well as Dolfo (Ryan Martin), Tanos (Marc “Big Mac” Andaya), Bulldog (Sugar Ray “Mammoth” Estroso), and Oweng (Renz “Baby Giant” Bana). They are ‘tropas’ not only in heart-stopping action and ‘kalokohan’ but also when life goes a downward spiral. Take for instance the moment when Tanggol was almost killed in an encounter with the cops.

They assumed that they have lost their dear friend, and what it made more heartbreaking was that they couldn’t get out of prison to know the truth. Thinking that Tanggol is gone, the group could only reminisce. Without judgment, without reservation, they mused on Tanggol’s life and his big-hearted deeds despite people seeing only the bad in him.

These men’s lives are strange and messy, yet they love each other even when they’re less than perfect.
