Being in an interracial relationship could be really challenging because of the cultural differences and language barriers. However, Filipino actor John Estrada and his wife, Brazilian beauty titlist-turned-actress Priscilla Meirelles, are able to prove that the challenges it entails can be overcome as long as there’s genuine love and they work hard for it together. And now, they’ve been blissfully married for more than a decade!

As we all know, John is a well-known actor, comedian, and host, who has already starred in a slew of TV shows and movies throughout his more than three decades in the local entertainment scene. Priscilla, on the other hand, came from a well-off family in Brazil and started working as a model before she turned 18 and entered pageantry.

They might have come from different walks of life and different parts of the world, yet the universe had its wondrous way of intertwining their lives in the early 2000s. It all began when Priscilla decided to work here in the Philippines after winning Miss Earth 2004, and they met through a common friend. Since she’s a foreigner, she made sure to get to know John very well by interrogating him and researching his past.

While the differences in their cultural backgrounds might have posed a challenge in their relationship, Priscilla imparted in her Magandang Buhay guesting in 2016 that the nature of his work as an actor was the greatest test for her. She shared how there were still women who would pursue her husband despite being aware that he’s already married.

Fortunately, they were able to overcome those hitches in their relationship by being open to each other, especially her, as she would remind him to be conscious of how he mingles with other women, as well as tell him whenever she gets uncomfortable in certain situations.

John and Priscilla reportedly dated for about three years since 2008 before tying the knot on February 26, 2011 through a romantic and star-studded beach wedding at a resort in San Fernando, La Union. They were blessed with a beautiful baby girl on February 6, 2012, whom they named Anechka.

They marked their 13th anniversary last February 26. In his Instagram post for the occasion, John confessed that he actually didn’t want to get married again until he met Priscilla 16 years ago, and his mind suddenly changed.
