It seems that the love bug hit the viewers of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo in the past week as we found ourselves thrilled and, at the same time, a bit devastated with the interactions of our favorite star-crossed lovers Tanggol (Coco Martin) and Mokang (Lovi Poe) and Primo (Lito Lapid) and Amanda (Lorna Tolentino)

The previous week commenced on a kilig and tear-jerking note as Tanggol continued to woo Mokang after their wonderful date night. He accompanied her to the hospital as she took her turn in watching over her father Marsing (Pen Medina). He reiterated his willingness to help her and her family pay the hospital bills and surgery of her dad by promising to find a job.

Worried of Mokang’s welfare due to the nature of her work, he asked her if there’s a possibility for her to just look for a more decent job. As she told him that it would be impossible, he conveyed that he would just go back to his old ways in order to help her, to which she highly objected and appeased him that she would never give up her dignity.

As Tanggol once again professed his love for her and asked if he still has a chance or “pag-asa” on her, Mokang confessed that she draws strength from him because she knows that he would be there for her always. She neither accepted nor rejected his declaration of love for her, but she implied that they have it at the wrong time. She had to suppress her feelings towards him since she wants to focus first on helping her family.

Nonetheless, he’s still willing to wait for her until the time comes that she’s ready to love him back. Thus, he simply asked her to allow him to take good care of her for the meantime. Their emotional conversation concluded with the two of them having a fist bump, signifying that they would remain as friends.

Tanggol then got reprimanded by Berting (Joey Marquez) upon learning that the authorities are actually searching for him again after being accused by Roda (Joel Lamangan) as the one who attempted to murder him and conducted a heist in his abode. He and his friends refuted that, of course, since they were not in Quiapo anymore and were already hiding when the crime took place.

Mokang’s feelings towards Tanggol and his confession further got complicated as her mom Nita (Susan Africa) warns her about him after hearing the rumors regarding his involvement in Roda’s case. Mokang related her frustration and confusion during her chat with Chicky (Toni Fowler) when the latter swung by the hospital to check on her and Marsing.

She wasn’t able to contain her kilig as she reminisced about their lovely date and the memories they’ve shared together since they were kids. That elation was suddenly replaced with sadness as she imagined the future that’s waiting for her and Tanggol if ever they would end up together.

Even though they brought nothing but trouble to him and to his business, Berting still cared for the groups of Tanggol and Primo (Lito Lapid). Aside from asking how they’ve been, particularly their wounds, he also warned them about getting caught by the authorities who have been looking for them after they told him that they would go out that day. Since they’re unstoppable, he just reminded them that he wouldn’t be able to help them once they get in trouble again.

In pursuit of finding out the truth behind his accusation against Tanggol, Marites (Cherry Pie Picache) paid Roda a visit. She discovered that he’s actually not sure if it was really Tanggol since it was so dark when the crime took place. Roda swore to send Tanggol to jail with the help of Police Lt. Col. Manuel Suarez (King Gutierrez). But as a mom, Tess vowed to make the truth eventually prevail and save her beloved firstborn.

In the hospital, David found out that his mother borrowed money from Beng in order to pay the bills of Camille (Yukii Takahashi). Thus, he urged her to pay it immediately because he doesn’t want them to get into debt of gratitude (or utang na loob) with that scheming woman.

Upon learning from Noy (Lou Veloso) that Camille has already been discharged, Olga (as Beng) insisted on visiting Camille at the Dimaguiba residence. While Tess was delighted with her presence, David was appalled to see her at their house and didn’t even allow her to see Camille.

Initially unbeknown to Olga, a mysterious woman was tailing her until she reached the house of the Dimaguibas. For sure, a lot of viewers were curious about her, and it would later on be revealed that she’s actually a lackey of Ramon (Christopher de Leon), as he’s still dubious about his sister Olga’s claim that she has already found his estranged son, who, as we all know, is Tanggol.

As he’s about to celebrate his birthday, Ramon orders his trusted right-hand Severino (Dindo Arroyo) to hire five beautiful ladies, who will provide entertainment not only to him, but his guests too. The announcement of Mama Janeth (Janice Jurado), with Mokang being the main request, made Selene (Shanaia Gomez) green with envy as she and her friends thought of a wicked way of expelling them from the club.

At the police station, Rigor got reprimanded by Col. Suarez after he directly communicated to Gen. Pacheco about the briefcase of high-grade drugs that he surrendered and how they seem to not follow the standard operating procedure for its turnover. Col. Suarez told him not to bring it up again, or else he’s going to face the consequences.

Amanda (Lorna Tolentino), meanwhile, managed to escape from the watch of the henchmen of Augustus, as well as of her own, by ordering them to help in the repacking of drugs, and met with Primo and his lackeys. Primo attempted to save Amanda and take her back from Augustus, including her family, but she told him that there could be a safer way of doing it. He let go of him and they assured one another of their undying love.

Tanggol and his friends were indeed successful in their plan of being able to eat free and secure a job by pretending that he lost his wallet to pickpockets and offering the stall owner that they would just work for everything that they’d consumed. The owner accepted it, much to their delight and they started right away. Bulldog (Sugar Ray "Mammoth" Estroso) took on the role of the cook, Dolfo (Ryan Martin) volunteered to be the dishwasher, Tanos (Mark Anthony “Big Mak” Andaya) and Oweng (Renz Joshua "Baby Giant" Baña) pledged to be the waiters, while Tanggol assigned himself as the delivery boy.

As he’s about to make his first-ever delivery, Tanggol immediately found himself in trouble after a car hit him, which, of course, made him furious. He angrily challenged the people aboard, that included Angkong most trusted right-hand Leroy Tiu-Lee (Jeffrey Tam), to come out and face him and it ensued to a fisticuff. Impressed with how he’s able to single-handedly defeat his men, Leroy personally approached Tanggol to tell him that he’s the kind of underling that he needs because of how courageous and assertive he is. Thus, he handed him his calling card and told him to contact him if he needs a job.

Comments from kilig, amused netizens

The past week might have its own share of intense, action-packed, and dramatic, scenes, but it’s still the kilig and heartwarming ones that delighted the viewers the most. Netizens were thrilled to witness the heart-wrenching conversation between Tanggol and Mokang as they talked about their feelings for each other and how they’ve gotten the right love at the wrong time.

For sure, there are some of us who are able to relate with the plight of our star-crossed lovers, who, despite harboring feelings for each other, still couldn’t make love win for them. While Tanggol is really determined to have Mokang as her girlfriend, she, on the other hand, is not really keen on the idea since she still has a lot of responsibilities to her family. Thus, she needs to suppress her feelings for him and reject his love for now.

Another pair to bring kilig to us are Primo and Amanda, who, despite the odds and their heartbreaking past, have remained in love with each other. While they’re really eager to get back in each other’s arms and escape from the vicious Augustus, they agreed to just take it slowly in order to protect one another. Their avid shippers indeed weren’t able to contain their kilig as they secretly met on the boat and professed their love for each other.

The chemistry of Coco Martin and Lovi Poe, as well as of Lito Lapid and Lorna Tolentino, are indeed notable and truly impressive!

Meanwhile, it seems impossible for every week of FPJ’s Batang Quiapo to be complete without David and Rigor getting into our nerves. This just proves how talented actors McCoy de Leon and John Estrada are, right?

Here are some of the tweets of kilig and amused netizens:
